French Open: Draw breakdown

by Jonas Eriksson

For you who subscribe to my newsletter (to do so, just fill in your e-mail in the form below), I recently sent out an e-mail with my breakdown of the French Open draw.

It looked like this (cut-down, low-res – pdf attached to the newsletter).

I will follow up what I got right and what I got wrong at the end of the tournament.

What I already can admit I didn’t see coming was Donald Young‘s loss to Gabashvili and Igor Sijsling‘s three set win over Ungur.

Benoit Paire also had a tougher test than I imagined against Radu Albot. With some help from the crowd he managed to get through a topsy-turvy match in five sets.

The matches that didn’t finish are awaiting some interesting conclusions – Dustin Brown is up two sets to one against Dudi Sela and Robin Haase has managed to level his match against US hope Jack Sock before the fifth set. It’s going to be interesting to see the conclusion to that one!
