I am starting to suffer a bit from soreness in my right arm. Nothing serious yet, but it has made me focus on string setups for tennis elbow. Tennis can be a pretty injury prone sport and this time all the testing of different strings, racquets and grips have made my arm sore. I haven’t suffered from problems of tennis elbow until I increased my testing of new gear. It will likely require me to structure my reviews differently and focus on string setups for tennis elbow (for a period). I generally like a stiffer string bed and a controlled …

Sometimes you stumble upon a great hybrid string setup by chance. Guest writer Philip did so with Isospeed Baseline & Tecnifibre Razor Code. Philip has a UTR of 9.51 (NTRP 5.0). He is a counter-puncher and a baseliner who tries to hit with heavy topspin. He is currently ranked among the best players in his country U16. Word over to Philip and how he found a great hybrid string setup. As a junior tennis player, it is very hard to stay consistent with gear. There are always new rackets, strings, and shoes coming out, and each one of them seems …
I have been testing the Hyper-G Soft over a couple of weeks and here is my Solinco Hyper-G Soft String Review. Solinco Hyper-G is a popular but pretty stiff string. But like with Tour Bite, Solinco has now introduced a softer version. I don’t know the difference in stiffness, but the string is definitely softer and more comfortable. Solinco Hyper-G Soft comes in four different gauges: 1.15, 1.20, 1.25, and 1.30. Check out more about Solinco Hyper-G Soft on their official website. You notice its softness already while stringing. The string bends and kinks more easily than regular Hyper-G, but …
Here’s part 2 of my Tecnifibre Triax String Review. I have now tested the string for a month in a couple of different racquets. If you want to read my first impressions post about the new Tecnifibre Triax string, click here. For you who haven’t heard about Triax, it is a string that is 50% poly and 50% multifilament. The idea is to provide good comfort for hard-hitting players who usually use poly strings. It’s a well-known problem among tennis players that stiff racquets and stiff strings can create arm issues like tennis elbow or wrist tendonitis. The Tecnifibre Triax …
I listen to you, dear readers. Many of you have asked for a video about tennis string basics. And here it is! Time to learn about tennis strings. This video deals with string gauges, tensions, types, and shapes. If you have more questions or want to see more content about strings, please let me know. The topic is pretty much endless and we see new brands, ideas, and innovations in the tennis …
Ferenc Ferdinand Weisz is back with another guest post. This time for an Isospeed String Review of Black Fire and Baseline Speed. Isospeed is special to me because the Isosport factory is only 20km away from my home. I’m a half-hobby stringer who does stringing for local players. I mostly work with Isospeed, because every player here knows this brand and they are using it with satisfaction. That is why I thought it was time to write this Isospees string review. Check out the Isospeed Strings official website here. Isospeed String Review – introduction Isosport is located in Eisenstadt, Austria, …

I have been enjoying two strings from the new Italian brand String Project. A multifilament called Gold and a monofilament called Magic. Here is my review. I did write about these strings briefly before, but since I have been enjoying them so much, I wanted to create a more in-depth review. This also includes a video review that you can watch below. There are a lot of new string brands on the market. The competition is tightening, but perhaps there is room for more as long as you can create a quality product. Besides more focused string brands like MSV, …
Mayami Strings is a new tennis string brand based in Ukraine. They create strings focused on durability, control, and spin. Review to come. Mayami Strings already have quite a big line-up of tennis strings: Tour Hex, Big Spin, Hit Pro, Hepta Power, and Magic Twist. I have received samples of all of the strings, but not sure I will have time to review them all so I will focus on a couple of them for this play-test. Mayami Tour Hex This is a hexagonal polyester string focused on control. It has received very nice reviews on Stringforum and should be …
I have been suffering from both wrist and elbow pain lately. Not sure what caused it, but it has made me test more arm-friendly strings. Arm-friendly strings The most popular string these days are stiff poly strings that offer good control, durability, and spin. They only have one real downside – they are not arm-friendly strings. And this is in part why we are seeing an increase of tennis elbow, wrist and shoulder injuries these days (it also has to do with stiffer racquets of course). Not that long ago most tennis players used only natural gut, synthetic gut or …
