Dylan Gee is a tennis coach who runs the popular account @tenniswithdylan on Instagram and YouTube. This is my podcast with Dylan Gee. Podcast with Dylan Gee Sadly we had some technical issues during the podcast using the Riverside phone app, but otherwise Riverside has been great at helping me make decent podcasts with little technical knowledge. Dylan Gee is a London-based tennis coach who has built a strong following with the Instagram account @tenniswithdylan. He used to play professional tennis and is now mixing tennis coaching with sports modeling and influencer engagements. During the podcast, we talked about his …

He has won the USPTA national coach of the year seven times and trained five number-one-ranked players. This is my podcast with Rick Macci. Podcast with Rick Macci I am sure these names ring a bell: Andy Roddick, Jennifer Capriati, Maria Sharapova, Serena Williams, and Venus Williams. These are just a few of the tennis starts that Rick Macci has worked with. He is even featured in the movie King Richard, about Richard Williams, the father of the Williams sisters. We sat down over Zoom to talk about Rick’s spectacular coaching career and what’s in store in the future. We …
Coach Evan is back with a piece about brushing up the ball. Well, actually, don’t brush up the ball! Don’t Brush Up the Ball Here is why you shouldn’t “brush up the ball” and how it can cause you errors. “Brush up on the ball,” the tennis pro said as he fed a ball slowly and without any spin. The boy swung at the ball and released his left hand off the racket at the finish. “Finish your swing,” the “pro” added. “Make sure you keep your hands together.” We’ve all heard these words before. Today, when I hear a teaching pro say …
Serve lesson with coach Miguel
I recorded a few lessons during my last trip to Marbella, Spain. Here is my serve lesson with coach Miguel. In this serve lesson, we’re breaking down the serve phase by phase, starting from the stance, then to the toss, over to the kinetic chain and the pronation at the end. We also talk about important parts of the serve. The rhytm, making sure you try to surprise your opponent, the importance of having a reliable serve, how your whole game is only as good as your second serve and a few other practical points that relate to the serve. …
Improve your one-handed backhand
Since the fixing your forehand video was well received, we did one on the one-handed backhand. How to improve your one-handed backhand. The one-handed backhand Many club players, including myself, struggle with the one-handed backhand. It feels like a complicated stroke with many moving parts, but once you get some fundamentals down, it’s not that difficult to improve your one-handed backhand. But you need to be patient because if you’re like me and have some bad habits built in, they can take a while to fix. You just need to focus on it and not give up if it feels …
Fix your forehand
Maybe your forehand isn’t broken. Perhaps it’s already a weapon. But there can be things to improve. We call it “Fix your forehand.” I wouldn’t be able to do this Fix your forehand video without the help of my friend and excellent tennis player, Nikki Roenn. Nikki used to be a professional tennis player and sometimes hits with a certain Novak Djokovic and other profile pro players when they’re in Marbella, Spain. Nikki runs Unstrung Customs, where he paints, strings, and customizes racquets worldwide for pros and club players. He has also created courses for stringing and painting racquets on …
Online coaching platform of the pros, TopCourt, keeps bringing new coaches and players to their team. Today we have Martina Navratilova on TopCourt. A few examples: Paul Annacone, Nick Kyrgios, Denis Shapovalov, Iga Swiatek, Venus Williams and Casper Ruud. Now we also get legend Martina Navratilova on TopCourt. Martina Navratilova should not need any further introduction, but for youngers readers she has quite a record as professional tennis player. She retired in 2006, but before that she …
Solo Box Training
Coach Evan is back with a drill so you can work on your tennis this summer. It’s called Solo Box Training. There are a lot of coaches who “need” to hear their voices. Whether they are unsure of themselves or are projecting so that other people ten courts away can hear them. When you are “Solo Box Training”, it’s essential for the player to “feel” the swing. Rather than talk too much about technique, I like to have the players find the location. Why? By the player “finding” the location, it “molds” the swing into their mind and body. Why is …
The ATP has announced that off-court coaching will be tested for the 2nd half of 2022. What are your thoughts on off-court coaching? It’s a bold move, but somewhat expected. With the Next-Gen Finals rules, the ATP has already experimented with some new rule ideas to make professional tennis more exciting to watch. The purists will claim that tennis needs no changes, it’s exciting enough anyway. I’m partly in this camp, while people like Patrick Mouratoglou thinks that tennis needs lots of changes to stay competitive with other sports when it comes to screen time and diminishing attention span. I think …
Coach Evan is back with his thoughts and a story about playing in a crosswind. Check out more of his posts here. Playing in a crosswind – Evan Gaudreau The town tennis courts were built in rows of three. There were five sections. Two players were playing in the section next to the parking lot. They tried to hit the ball back and forth. “This is so annoying,” Dave said. The wind was blowing left to right at fifteen miles per hour. “Playing in the wind sucks. It’s not even tennis,” his playing partner, Joe said. The ragweed started blowing …
