Yonex Poly Tour Rev String Review

My Yonex Poly Tour Rev String Review is ready. I have been testing this string in a bunch of different racquets.

The racquets I used in this Yonex Poly Tour String review are Yonex Ezone Tour (52 lbs), Yonex VCORE 95 (51 lbs), VCORE 100 (both 2021 versions) (53 lbs), and Wilson Clash Pro (55 lbs). The string is infused with silicone oil, which is supposed to increase snapback and spin. One of the selling points of the string is “bite”, meaning that the string will grab the ball well and offer you great control.

Sadly, I felt like the “bite” part was not really there with the Yonex Poly Tour Rev string. It offered good control and comfort for a “firm” polyester string, but I didn’t find the ball to dip in like I do with some other poly strings in the same segment. It’s almost like the coating made the ball “slip” a little bit, which I’m sure wasn’t the intention.

Yonex Poly Tour Rev comes in three gauges: 1.20, 1.25, and 1.30. In this play-test, I only review the 1.25 as that was the gauge I got from Yonex.

I have not yet tried the string in a hybrid setup, which is something I might try later on.

Pros and cons

+ Easy to string
+ Good comfort
– Lack of spin/bite
– Not in love with the “slippery” feel

In the Yonex Poly Tour family, my favorite is the Strike and my number two the Pro. I haven’t yet tried Yonex Poly Tour Fire. If you want to find out about my current favorite polys, check out my Gear of the Year – Part 2 – Strings.

Your choice of strings is a matter of taste and also depends on the racquet and your playing conditions. What strings do you use?

  • Put this slippery string with a low tension in the cross and a very bity string in the main.. extra movement and snap back for your main.

Then it might work as a lubricant for the main haha
