This Week In Tennis – Week 28

I am setting up a new vlog/post format called “This Week in Tennis”. Let’s have a look at this week, week 28.

For this week in tennis, it’s a little bit of a Wimbledon and Euro 2020 hangover. Two huge sports events ended this weekend and people might need a break from watching professional sports. But professional tennis won’t take a break and goes back on the clay for week 28.

My focus will be on ATP, but I will also mention WTA and Challengers when there is noticeable action over there.

ATP Tournaments in Week 28

We have three tournaments on the ATP Tour in week 28: Hamburg ATP 500 (clay) check the draw here, Nordea Open in Båstad (clay), Hall of Fame Open in Newport (grass). Hamburg features Tsitsipas, Basilashvili, Carreno Busta, Lajovic, and Krajinovic. Nordea Open has players such as Ruud, Garin, Fognini, Musetti, and Hall of Fame Open features Bublik, Querrey, Nishioka, Pospisil, Sandgren, and Anderson (and Karlovic!).

On the WTA tour, we have the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest and the Prague Open. In Prague, we have home favorites Kvitova and Krejikova and in Budapest, we have Putintseva and Collins in action. The write-ups on the official WTA tennis website are worth following to get the best updates on the women’s tour.

If you want to get a closer look into these top players and their routines, plenty of them offer courses on TopCourt. Get a 14-day free trial via this link. I’m an affiliate of TopCourt and get a small commission if you sign up after the trial period, but believe me, I only endorse products I myself use and believe in.

Players to watch

I’m always on the lookout for exciting players to watch. So if you have any specific players to keep an extra eye out for, let me know in the comments below and I will talk about them in my daily vlogs.

One player moving up the rankings and who won the Braunschweig Challenger last week is Daniel Altmeier. He has a nice game and upset Matteo Berrettini at the French Open. He’s definitely a guy that can keep climbing up the rankings.

Who are you watching this week?
