by Oddspunter

It has begun! As one of the four greatest tournaments in tennis is about to start, everyone is analyzing the possible outcomes. Can Djokovic and Swiatek win?

What to Expect from Australian Open 2023?

What better way to start the year in the world of tennis than the Australian Open? Someone out there was certainly thinking of the fans worldwide when this decision was made. It is still so close to the holidays, and everyone is looking for something to watch and enjoy themselves. Well, look no further because in a couple of days tennis world’s crème de la crème will converge to the Land Down Under. The Grand Slam tournament will again be in the spotlight, as this year will surely bring us more excitement. Defending champion for Men’s singles will be Rafael Nadal, who won in the final against Daniil Medvedev in an amazing five sets match. Nadal was down 2 – 0 but managed to grab a win. The women’s singles champion is Ashleigh Barty, but she will not be there to defend the title as she retired in March 2022.

Australian Open Betting Trends

And, of course, as with every major sport event, people worldwide are betting on the winners of the Australian Open. Be sure to set the criteria for finding the best options for betting sites in Australia very high. At first glance, it seems that Iga Swiatek and Novak Djokovic are clear favorites for the win, as the odds show us. Behind Novak, we have Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, and the defending champion Nadal in fourth place. At Women’s singles, Swiatek is a huge favorite, and on the odds list we can find Caroline Garcia, Ons  Jabeur, and Aryna Sabalenka in that order but with similar chances.

Novak Djokovic Returns to Australia After Not Being Able to Play in 2022

Last year’s scandal is probably still in the mind of Novak Djokovic. A year ago, he was undisputedly the biggest name in Men’s singles and on the way to challenge for the G.O.A.T. in the world of tennis. But politics was standing in the way. Due to Covid protocols, he was also banned from playing and from the country. In the vacuum created, everyone expected Medvedev to take advantage and profit from the situation, but Nadal had other plans. Before Australian Open 2022, the trio of Men’s tennis, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, were tied for Grand Slam Titles at 20. This win allowed Nadal to claim first place in this very important category.

What Can We Expect from Novak Djokovic?

After the events in Melbourne, the year didn’t continue great for Novak. Nadal won Roland Garros and took his tally of Grand Slam titles to 22. Djokovic managed to secure Wimbledon and reduce the gap. After he, once again, was not allowed to play in the Grand Slam tournament, this time U.S. Open, we can safely conclude that he was preparing for this. He is angry, he is hungry, and don’t let his smile fool you. This is his favorite tournament, as he holds the record for the most titles in the Open Era, winning 9 of them. He also managed to win it three consecutive times. He will need to be at his best with winner balls. He is in great form and has won the last couple of tournaments, which makes us certain he is raring to go and prove to everyone that he is the boss in Melbourne.

Whom Can We Expect as Contenders in Men’s Singles?

The world’s number one, Carlos Alcaraz, is sadly out of the tournament due to injury. Daniil Medvedev will want to win it after two consecutive runner-up places finally. Defending champion Nadal will want to prove to everybody that he didn’t win it last time just because Djokovic was banned. Also, a win here could increase his chances in the battle for the greatest of all time. But they are not playing very well lately, and Djokovic looks like he is in a better position for a win.

Will Swiatek Have a Respectable Opponent on Her Way to the Title?

Since most people believe that Iga Swiatek will win this competition, she practically looks like the Melbourne Park host. The world’s top-ranked player in Women’s singles dominated the previous year, winning both the French Open and the U.S. Open. Without a doubt, Swiatek has been outstanding for a few years, and she is now prepared to add her Australian Open triumph to the growing list of success. Who can oppose Swiatek is the key question going into Australian Open predictions.

Whom Can We Expect as Contenders in Women’s Singles?

The main opponents should be Caroline Garcia, Aryna Sabalenka, and Ons Jabeur. Jabeur seems certain of a Grand Slam to win in her career, and we will see if this is her tournament. Garcia made it to the semi-finals of the U.S. Open in 2022. While Aryna is certainly the bookie’s favorite for Swiatek’s main contender. Another major talking point in Women’s singles is the appearance of a legend, Venus Williams. She was awarded a wildcard and will play in the main draw.

Conclusion

What can we expect from this year’s Australian Open? A lot of dedicated players and a lot of newcomers who are ready to prove themselves. We hope for records to be broken, and new nail-biting matches in the Australian sun. New champions, and the best presentation of what can we expect of 2023 regarding world-class tennis. We can expect to be excited, amused, and entertained by this year’s Grand Slam tournament in the Land Down Under, so be sure not to miss it!

At this time, the likes of Taylor Fritz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Holger Rune and Nick Kyrgios must be seen also as contenders, in my opinion of course. Fritz game is now a level up and he’s mentally and physically stronger, I think is prepared for the extra mile. Auger-Aliassime game is at top level for the last 2 years, he’s got everything to win grand slams and become Nº1, but he must want it more than the others. Rune one the other hand wants it more than others, that’s for sure. He’s a very determined and intense player and I think he improved technically and tactically in the last year. Nick, what to say about him, he’s naturally gifted and he can do whatever he wants on the court. If he wakes up during the tournament with the same motivation and ambition every single day he can win it. There’s also a guy that has being surprising me a lot: Alex de Minaur. He’s a terrific talent and a treat from every area of the court. He’s great on the baseline but is superb on the net.
