US Open Women’s Final Predictions 2022

Alex Mann has given his US Open Women’s Final Predictions 2022 below. Who do you think will win between Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur?

US Open Women’s Final Predictions 2022

Can Jabeur come back from her Wimbledon heartbreak or will Swiatek win her second major of the year and continue her dominance as the number 1 player in the world? Swiatek is the clear favorite according to the bookmakers. If you want to bet on the match, you can check out Bet US and get a deposit bonus.

Iga Swiatek not at her best but winning anyway

Iga Swiatek‘s run to the final hasn’t been smooth sailing.

The world number 1 dropped the opening set in her fourth-round and semi-final match against Jule Niemeier and Aryna Sabalenka, respectively, and has spoken considerably about her dislike for the lighter US Open tennis balls.

Although it has to be said that the Pole isn’t in her 37-match winning streak form, which ended at this year’s Wimbledon, her fighting spirit and ability to win when down is a sign why she is one of the best players in the world, top players such as Sloane Stephens, Jessica Pegula and Aryna Sabalenka could not stop the Swiatek this fortnight, even when the Pole wasn’t at her best.

In the semi-final, Sabalenka was leading 4-2 in the final set, before Swiatek came back to win 6-4. The Pole’s resilience and ability to play her best tennis when it matters most will give her confidence coming into the final.

Will this be Ons Jabeur’s first Grand Slam title?

Standing in her way is Ons Jabeur. Who will be hoping to avenge her Wimbledon final loss to Elena Rybakina only a few months ago.

The Tunisian has displayed a few incredible performances in this tournament to reach back-to-back major finals.

She beat the in-form Ajla Tomljanovic, who defeated Serena Williams in her potential final tennis match, and Carolina Garcia, who had been on a 13-match win streak. The only set she dropped was to American Shelby Rogers in the third round.

Stylistically, this final will be intriguing. Jabeur will bring slices and drop-shots, and Swiatek will use her fast groundstrokes to counteract this. Jabeur’s attacking game is usually more high-risk than Swiatek’s heavy topspin one, but this tournament, it’s been the opposite.

The Tunisian has been able to sail through the service games relatively quickly, so Swiatek will need to be consistent on her return and groundstrokes.

On the other hand, Jabeur has been known to lose her focus and rush shots during matches. If she does, Swiatek could run away with the match.

The players have faced each other four times and have won two matches a piece. Swiatek won the last encounter in this year’s Rome Masters final, 6-2 6-2.

Prediction

Swiatek will need to rediscover her pre-Wimbledon form if she is going to win the third major of her career.

The experience from her Wimbledon final loss will help Jabeur this time. The Tunisian is the more in-form player, and if she can conjure her magical tennis consistently, I think she will reach the finish line.

Prediction – Jabeur in 3 sets
