So impressed by the Federer composure. 7-5 7-5 6-4 against a Murray who I thought was in top form. We have that final again, Federer vs Djokovic, and this time I feel it’s Federer’s turn. 18th slam, here we come. Some great highlights from Ace Tennis.

Someone must have wound up Federer’s Rolex so he thought he had little time on court before an important appointment, because he raced to 5-0 in the style of someone fashionably in a hurry to win. Stepanek didn’t have time to do any of his usual funky moves before he found himself down a set and a break in yesterday’s second round of Monte Carlo Masters. In the end he managed to get the look of a break point, but Federer saved it and soon scribbled his signature on the camera in a flashy 6-1 6-2 affair. His countryman Wavrinka, …
I haven’t been posting of late due to other writing commitments, work, family, you name it. I’ve even started playing more myself again and the game is coming along decently – with the only worry being the body holding up. But I’m going to try to get back to the blog and Twitter and follow it until the end of 2013. At least a chunkier post every week. And as an add-on I’m going to write a newsletter where you who subscribe get something a little bit extra from time to time. Match predictions, gear reviews, tips and tricks for …
Julien Benneteau has been a threat to Federer in the past. He has beaten him twice, and as recently as Rotterdam earlier this year. He was also up two sets to none in Wimbledon last year before Federer stormed back and managed to win the match and later on the tournament. Benneteau simply seems to shine when playing the Fed Express. But yesterday Federer was simply too good and powered through the slightly tired Frenchman 6-3 6-4 7-5. It’s nice to see Federer back in his good old Grand Slam form again after a “hesitant” Spring where people again started …
The first day at Roland Garros 2013 is almost over and we have managed to get through it without the looming grey clouds in Paris infringing too much on the action. It’s cold in Paris and the weather forecast for the first week does look rather grim, but hopefully we won’t have too much of a break in the schedule. I had a feeling the weather together with the flimsy form of some of the favorites would allow for potential upsets, but the first day saw none. Federer breezed through dangerous youngster Carreno-Busta 6-2 6-2 6-3 and except for a …
Since Rafa has his own energy drink, I think our Le Fed, Maestro, Fed Express, etc should have a dish of his own. And what would be more fitting than a baguette? After all, he must be tired of handing out bagels. So what’s in the Fed Baguette? Caviar – of course. Truffles – of course (plenty). Oysters – of course. Gold leaf – of course. And some other stuff – of course. The Fed Baguette is best enjoyed with a glass of Moet (or a bottle, because it doesn’t taste so good with those ingredients mixed together) or if you …
On the heels of a Federer early-round loss there ‘s always talk about when he’s going to retire, whether he’s lost his appetite for the competitive aspect of the sport and the possibility of the surprising defeat being the start of his downfall. Yesterday the mighty Fed Express lost against up-and-coming Kei Nishikori in a rollercoaster match that ended 4-6 6-1 2-6 (Fed’s numbers first). You could see in Fed’s play that he was rusty. He looked slow on returns and was missing some shots that I bet he would make if he had played an event prior to this. …
It was a slightly strange day at Roland Garros. It started in a pretty normal fashion though with the Fed Expess rolling through Tipsarevic in routine style, 6-1 6-4 6-3 and sending a small warning to Djokovic and Nadal that he’s in Grand slam mood. Clay court demon David Ferrer is another threat. He destroyed a tired Stakhovsky 6-1 6-1 6-3 and if I remember correctly has yet to lose serve. He can surely mix it up against both Federer and Djokovic although Nadal should have him pretty much figured out by now. The French hopes Gasquet and Tsonga looked to …
It happened again. The Fed Express hit a wall. I am getting so used to it now, it doesn’t even sting anymore. Which is a strange thing to say for a Fedophile. I wrote an article about Federer’s failure in Dubai some weeks ago that I’ve pasted below. Then I wrote another one where “Nadal taught Federer a lesson” – I am too lazy to link it, but it’s up here on Tennisnerd. I am getting tired of writing about Federer’s losses and tired about hearing that the saga that was Roger Federer’s amazing career is on the end stretch. …
