Adidas Barricade 13

by Jonas Eriksson

I have received several new tennis shoes for review this month. One is the Adidas Barricade 13. The Barricade is a true classic.

The Adidas Barricade 13 is endorsed by top ATP pros like Stefanos Tsitsipas, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Dominic Thiem.

If you have no experience with the Barricade line, they are an icon regarding stability and durability. It is not the fastest shoe you will find, but most players who like it – love it.

What is new in the Adidas Barricade 13?

The last few generations of the Barricade has focused on comfort and ventilation. The upper has a breathable mesh and the high wear and rag zones are reinforced with Adituff Recycle material. There is a Dual Density Repetitor midsole cushioning, which is supposed to deliver a soft and energetic response. They come with Geofit pods to improve heel comfort and lockdown. And for aggressive hard court movers, the Torsion system is there to assist with sliding control and quick changes of direction.

Structure

  • Upper: Breathable mesh upper combined with ADITUFF recycled material strategically placed in high wear areas and drag zones. Asymmetric lacing system, neoprene tongue, and hidden laces on the medial side.
  • Midsole: Full length Dual Density Repetitor midsole cushioning, with Torsion System TPU midfoot shank to maximize lateral stability.
  • Outsole: ADIWEAR 2.0 rubber compound for high wear durability. Split herringbone tread design for enhanced abrasion resistance in high wear areas, while providing a nice balanced grip for hard court sliding. This shoe features a Tennis Warehouse six-month outsole durability guarantee.
  • Color: White / Green Spark

Review

I will start my play-test of these shoes fairly soon and keep you posted. I have not been a Barricade user in the past as I always felt they were a bit “clunky” for my liking. But since I did like the previous generation more, I hope to see even further improvements in the Barricade 13 shoes.

I am curious to hear if you have tried the new Barricades and what you feel about them. Just write your comments below.

Hi Tennisnerds
I used previous version and yes they stop very quickly due to the sole but your knees dont stop and very easy to twist your knee – not sure about new version sole

I’ve worn Barricades for 10 years + and these are probably about the best version – great fit and support. Sole lasts a long time for me but I don’t play on hard courts. Definitely worth considering in my opinion.
