Wimbledon 2022 Women’s Final Prediction

On Day 1, the Wimbledon men’s and women’s tournament started with 128 players in each draw. Now only two men and two women remain, battling it out to become the Wimbledon Champion 2022.

Yesterday, we saw the remaining semi-final between Novak Djokovic and Cameron Norrie.

Men’s Semi-Final Summary

Djokovic once again reached the Wimbledon final, defeating first-time major semi-finalist Cameron Norrie in 4 sets to progress to his 32nd major final.

Norrie had a blistering start, breaking Djokovic three times in the opening set to take an early lead. Norrie’s consistency and depth of shot were on show as he forced a string of errors on Djokovic’s racquet.

Djokovic raised his level in the next set, moving Norrie around the court and hitting some incredible backhands. As Norrie began to misfire on his serve, Djokovic took full advantage and began to run away with the match.

Norrie showed fighting spirit to keep the last set close before Djokovic served out the match to win, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2,6-4.

Norrie’s 2022 Wimbledon journey concluded with much-deserved ovation from the home crowd as he walked off Centre Court.

A Djokovic roar at the end of the match signaled another Wimbledon major final for the Serb, who now faces Nick Kyrgios.

The match went largely as expected, with Norrie taking an early set from Djokovic before the Serb locked in and displaying an errorless performance for the next three sets. Norrie played a solid match overall, but Djokovic’s level was too high. I was happy to predict a Djokovic win in 4 sets correctly.

Ons Jabeur (3) vs Elena Rybakina (17)

Will it be Jabeur or Ryabkina who will join the list of greats to lift the Venus Rosewater Dish at the All England Club?

This final will be intriguing given the variety of game styles Jabeur and Rybakina possess. Jabeur will utilize her slice, drop shots and angles to move Rybakina around the court and bring her to the net, where the Kazakh rarely finds herself. The Tunisian will try to neutralize Ryabkina’s serve by blocking it back deep to the back of the court to get her forehand into play.

At times during this tournament, Jabeur has misfired. In the second set of her semi-final match against Tatjana Maria, Jabeur missed an array of forehands and couldn’t find her range. She can’t afford to be inconsistent, knowing she won’t get many opportunities to break Rybakina.

Rybakina will look to use her crushing groundstrokes and strong serve to race through games and not let Jabeur get a foothold in the match. She was able to hit through Halep, who had looked unbeatable this tournament so that she can do the same against Jabeur.

Rybakina likes to hit all her groundstrokes with two feet on the ground, but Jabeur won’t let her play in her hitting zone. She must be aware of this and willing to wait for her opportunity. If Rybakina can do this consistently, she has a real shot at winning the title.

Having said this, I think Jabeur’s determination and willingness to take risks will see her lift her first major title.

Prediction – Jabeur in 3 sets
