Tennis Warehouse published their most sold items for this year. Is this the best tennis gear of 2024 or do you disagree?
We have selected our picks for Gear of the Year 2024 in a YouTube video I did with Henrik where we focused on our favorite racquets. I will comment a bit below about my own preferences, my favorite current racquets per brand and more below.
But first, let us look at the best tennis gear of 2024, according to Tennis Warehouse sales numbers.
Top Racquets 2024

There are no bad racquets on this list, so we completely understand why these are the best-selling racquets in 2024. There are all racquets we reviewed pretty highly, but I still want to comment on them.
You can check out the racquets and other products for purchase from our friends at Tennis Warehouse (US, Canada), Tennis Warehouse Europe and Tennis Only (AU).
Wilson Blade 98 16/19 V9
The Wilson Blade 98 (click for our review) has been a bestseller for many years. One reason is that so many tour players endorse it. Stefanos Tsitsipas, Ugo Humbert, Karen Khachanov and many more.
It is a demanding racquet, so is better for advanced players. Most club level players will likely do better with the Wilson Blade 100, if they want a Blade.
The V9 was a solid update, not much was different compared to the V8, but the quality control has been improved, which makes it a solid purchase.
Babolat Pure Aero 98
This is not a surprise either. The Aero 98 is an excellent power/spin option for the advanced player. The regular Aero I think is the best option for the average club player, while the Aero requires a really fast swing. It is a racquet endorsed by Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune and Arthur Fils, so you can understand why tennis fans want to purchase this one.
The Aero 98 is my personal racquet of choice currently, so thumbs up here.
Yonex Ezone 98 Aqua Night
The Ezone 98 is a popular weapon among pros and club players worldwide. Ambassadors include Nick Kyrgios, Marton Fucsovics, and Naomi Osaka.
I personally enjoyed the Yonex Ezone 100 more, but I can see the appeal for the Ezone 98 with improved control over the 100.
HEAD Speed MP 2024
The HEAD Speed line is the bestseller of HEAD’s racquet silos and with Novak Djokovic as the main ambassador over the years, it is well understood. Now they have added Jannik Sinner to the endorsers and I am sure it will maintain the legacy of the Speed franchise.
You can check out our HEAD Speed MP review here or go for the HEAD Speed Pro for better control.
The beauty of the Speed MP is the versatile nature of the racquet, a balance of power, spin and control.
Wilson RF Pro
It can hardly shock anyone that when Roger Federer releases a new racquet together with Wilson, it will be a bestseller. The RF Pro is the racquet Federer would have used if he was still on tour. But it is lighter than his Pro Staff RF97 Autograph by 20 grams.
We thought the RF 01 was a bit easier to play and swing, but a bit too flexible for defensive tennis.
Top 2024 Strings
The abundance of strings on the market is even more massive than the racquet jungle. But we should not be surprised to see major brands and strings lead the sales ratings for Tennis Warehouse.
Babolat RPM Blast
Babolat’s bestselling 8-sided poly was used by Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz (before he switched to RPM Team). Many pros still use it on the tour today, even non-Babolat sponsored athletes like Stan Wawrinka.
It’s a firm string that loses tension relatively fast, but plays great for the first hours. We reviewed it a long time ago, but might revisit it in the near future. There are different colors of RPM Blast, like RPM Blast Orange.
Luxilon Alu Power
The legendary Alu Power is used by many pros on the tour but often in some kind of hybrid with natural gut. Players like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray has all used Alu Power (or Alu Power Rough) in a hybrid setup.
Like RPM Blast, Alu Power is quite firm, so not for intermediate players unless you string it with a softer setup in a hybrid. There are many different versions of Luxilon Alu Power like Alu Power Black, Alu Power Ice Blue and many other colors and gauges.
Babolat VS Touch
Natural gut is still going strong. Babolat launched the first commercial gut string in 1875 and although the process and the ingredients have changed a bit over the years, it is still natural gut, still holds tensions the best and is still the most popular hybrid string for the pros.
It’s expensive but in most cases, completely worth it. You can check out our Babolat VS Touch Review here.
Solinco Hyper G
This came out as the “unmistakable” neon green string in 2015. Like its brother Tour Bite, it’s a square-shaped and spin-friendly string, but Hyper G is more dampened and comfortable in feel. Both strings are very popular on US Colleges and among club players worlwide, but are not seen as frequently on the ATP and WTA tour.
You can check out our Solinco Hyper G review here.
Tecnifibre NRG2
Tecnifibre has long been known for high-quality multifilament strings like X-One Bi-Phase, NRG2, Triax, etc. NRG2 is a premium multi that works great in hybrid setups, or, if you have arm issues or just prefer multis, in a full bed.
This sentence from Tennis Warehouse explains this string well.
“With playability so close to natural gut that you’ll want to check the packet for hoof prints, NRG2 is a premium quality multifilament synthetic string.“
Top 2024 Shoes
We have not tried all of these shoes, because personally I have been iffy testing too many different shoes due to knee issues over the years. I have found that using the Yonex Eclipsion 4 has been the best for my knees and body overall and will stick with those unless the Eclipsion 5 or some other shoe wins me over in 2025.
It’s clear that Asics have become the leading tennis shoes brand, perhaps in a close fight with Nike and Adidas. We reviewed the Gel Resolution 9 and found it to be an excellent shoe overall. Gel Res 10 will be released in 2025, so stay tuned for that review.
The Adidas Barricade was always a little too heavy and hard for me. They require patience with the break-in, but once they soften up, they also last a long time.
The Nike Vapor Pro 2 was a fast-feeling and good shoe and felt like an improvement over the Vapor 1. The Vapor line is overall extremely popular among players of all levels. The Vapor Pro is not a comfort-focused shoe, but more for players looking for speed.
I do enjoy KSwiss tennis shoes, but I have not tried the Hyper court Supreme, although I did buy a pair for my father a while ago and he seems to enjoy them.
Another Nike shoe at number 5 is not surprising. I ended up preferring the Vapor 11 over the Vapor Pro 2, but I am more of a comfort/stability guy in tennis shoes.
You can click the links to see my reviews. For the women’s side of shoes, we have understood that Stella court is a real favorite among many, many players. Tennis Warehouse has 51 reviews for this shoe and they are all in the 4-5 region. Very impressive!
