Read more below on our preview of Jordan Thompson vs Grigor Dimitrov, quarter-final of the ATP 250 Brisbane.

No 10 ranked Grigor Dimitrov is looking to defend his title in Brisbane from last year and 2025 has started well for him. The Bulgarian has seen off Yannick Hanfmann and Aleksandar Vukic, both in straight sets, to reach this round.

Jordan Thompson had a good season last year and reached his highest career rank of no 26. The Aussie won his maiden ATP tour title at Los Cabos and ended the year with 35 wins and 24 losses.

So far in Brisbane, Thompson has impressed with solid wins over great opponents. First off, he took out talented Italian Matteo Berrettini in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 6-4) and followed up with a straight set win (7-5, 6-3) over young American Alex Michelsen.

These players met three times on tour before and Dimitrov currently stands with a 2-1 lead. The latest win came in this tournament one year ago, where the Bulgarian won 6-3, 7-5 and then went on to win the event.

Predictions and Odds

A look at the odds at the bookmakers shows that Dimitrov is quite clear favorite here, with 1.40 | -250 against Thompson on 2.85 | +180.

Thompson will continue to rely on his solid serving game and he’s been good in pressured situations and on important points so far in Brisbane. Against Michelsen he kept a 68% first serve percentage and converted 3 out of 5 break points. He’s definitely not without a chance here against the Bulgarian if he can keep those kind of stats.

Even Dimitrov has been serving well (12 aces vs Vukic) and in their last meeting, he was the strongest when looking at won service- and return points.

We think the home advantage and the recent form of Thompson will make this a tough challenge for an experienced Dimitrov.

Our bets:

  • Thompson to Win at least one Set – 1.66 | -150
