We’re entering the final week of the 2025 Australian Open and one match to look forward to on the women’s side on Tuesday is the quarter final between Coco Gauff and Puala Badosa.

Third-seed Coco Gauff has been in superb form for a while now and this season seem to continue in the same way. In Melbourne she started by taking out Sofia Kenin, Jodie Burrage and Leylah Fernandez, all without losing a set. In the fourth round the American was up against Belinda Bencic and following a 5-7 loss in the first set, Coco got back to winning ways and won the game comfortably in the end.

The 11th seed Paula Badosa comes from a strong 2024, where she was returning from quite a lot of injuries. Badosa did not start well in the warm-up events before the Australian Open, however in Melbourne we’ve seen her with a solid game defeating Wang Xinyu, Talia Gibson, Marta Kostyuk and Olga Danilovic.

These two players met six times on tour and it’s all squared at 3-3, with Gauff getting the latest win, 2-1 at the 2024 China Open.

Odds and Predictions

Seeing the tennis odds at the bookies, it’s clear that the American is the clear favorite this time around. The form of Coco Gauff is just too good at the moment. While Badosa is one of the players that has managed to trouble Gauff a lot in the past, we can’t see her get past the world no 3 at this stage.

Gauff’s serve can be a bit inconsistent at times, but with her defense and now much improved forehand, we expect Coco to progress to the semi’s.

Our prediction: Gauff winning 2-0 – Odds 1.73 or -137.5.
