Alejandro Davidovich Fokina was born on June 5th, 1999, in Malaga, Spain. He started playing tennis with his father (who is a former boxer) at the age of three.
Alejandro was very successful as a junior and was the Spanish Champion at U12, U15 and U18 levels. His professional tennis career started later in 2016.
Fokina made his ATP Tour debut in 2019, with his first significant achievement being a semifinal run at the Estoril Open that year. His first Masters 1000 final came at Monte Carlo in 2022, where he notably defeated Novak Djokovic. Fokina has shown consistency across surfaces, reaching the quarterfinals at the 2021 French Open and securing his first Grand Slam fourth round at the 2020 US Open.
In 2025, he notably staged consecutive comebacks from two sets down at the Australian Open, a feat not seen in two decades.
He reached his career-high ranking of No. 21 in August 2023. Currently, at the time of writing, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is placed no 59 on the official ATP rankings.
