Tallon Griekspoor

We had a very successful start to our picks for the Miami Open yesterday, with 3 out of 3. Let’s look ahead to three more interesting clashes coming up.

Thompson vs. Giron

20.03.2025, 19:00 CEST
Head-to-Head: 1-0

Jordan Thompson
has struggled recently, losing three of his last five matches. His most recent defeat was at Indian Wells, where he was edged out by Moutet in three close sets. Last year in Miami, Thompson was knocked out by Monfils in the second round.

Marcos Giron has had a better run, winning three of his last five matches. He reached the Round of 16 at Indian Wells last week but was defeated by Fils in straight sets. Giron has yet to progress beyond the second round in Miami, with his 2024 campaign ending in the first round against Koepfer.

Best Bet for Thompson vs Giron

While the tennis bookmakers favor Giron in this matchup, we believe Thompson could be the stronger contender. The Australian is a solid hard-court player, and Giron’s history in Miami has been underwhelming. This match could go either way, but we expect a close contest.

Value Bet/ The Best Odds: Jordan Thompson +1.5 sets @ -154 or 1.65

Griekspoor vs. Etcheverry

20.03.2025, 19:00 CEST
Head-to-Head: First Meeting

Tallon Griekspoor has won four of his last five matches, including a strong run at Indian Wells, where he reached the quarterfinals before falling to Rune in three sets. Last season, he reached the third round in Miami but was eliminated by Sinner. This is his third appearance in the tournament.

Tomas Martin Etcheverry has had a rough patch, losing three of his last five matches. At Indian Wells, he was knocked out in the first round by Mensik, and at Cap Cana this week, he fell in the quarterfinals to Mensik in another tight three-setter. A clay-court specialist, Etcheverry has struggled on hard courts and has never found success in Miami, losing in the second round to Murray last year.

Best Bet to Make

Griekspoor comes in as the favorite, and rightfully so. With his strong recent form and Etcheverry’s struggles on hard courts, we expect the Dutchman to dominate from start to finish.

Value Bet/The Best Odds: Tallon Griekspoor to win @ 1.50 or –200

Lorenzo Sonego
Lorenzo Sonego

Sonego vs. Navone

20.03.2025, 20:30 CEST
Head-to-Head: 1-0

Lorenzo Sonego is currently in poor form, having lost his last three matches. His most recent victory was over a month ago in Marseille. This will be his sixth Miami appearance, but he has never advanced beyond the fourth round. Last year, Sonego lost to Evans in the opening round in a tight three-set battle.

Mariano Navone has also struggled recently, with three losses in his last five matches. He was eliminated in the second round at Indian Wells by Shelton. Navone is primarily a clay-court player and has little experience or success on hard courts, marking his debut in Miami this year.

Best Bet to Make

Although Sonego is in poor form, he remains the stronger hard-court player and should comfortably beat Navone, who is out of his element. We expect Sonego to win in straight sets.

Value Bet/The Best Odds: Lorenzo Sonego to win 2-0 @ 2.25 or -125.
