A good matchup among todays Round of 32 matches is 4th ranked Daniil Medvedev vs 26th ranked Sebastian Korda.
When? 29 April, 12.30 CET.
Medvedev has played good tennis this year and with 20 wins out of 25 (with two runner-up places at Indian Wells and Australian Open) he looks solid in the rankings and we expect a lot from him in Madrid. The Russian went out in Monte Carlo in the third round and had a fairly tough match to start in Madrid against Matteo Arnaldi. He looked strong and focused as he finally won 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Medvedev is not known for being a clay specialist exactly, however he has a decent record on this surface (won in Rome last year).
Sebastian Korda has looked good so far this year as well, with 12 wins out of 22 and he reached the semi finals of the Adelaide tournament in January. The 23-year-old American is usually very good on clay courts and reached this round by beating Max Purcell with the convincing numbers 6-3, 6-3.
All even in the H2H
These two players are quite the rivals with two wins each, the latest one at the Indian Wells, Medvedev came out stronger with 6-4, 5-7, 6-3.
Predictions and Odds
This should be a competitive match and a real test for Medvedev, especially on clay. He is clearly the best overall player and has shown consistency on the tour lately.
We know the talent of Korda, even though his form varies a bit between tournaments. The American has an amazing technique but he has not always been able to show it, especially not against the top ranked players.
It shouldn’t be an easy way to the next round for Medvedev, however we believe he will progress eventually. Some interesting odds for you:
- Over 11.5, Total games won by Korda – Odds 1.73 | -137.5
- 2-1 Set Betting Medvedev – 3.70 | +275
