Jannik Sinner

It’s Friday and semi-final time at the Miami Open, and the first one should be an intense, classic battle. In a repeat of the Australian Open final back in January, we have Jannik Sinner vs Daniil Medvedev to take a closer look at.

Second seed Sinner is, as expected, clear favourite among bookmakers against the defending champion but this will be no easy day for the Italian.

Jannik Sinner is looking as strong as always in Miami and his consistent and strong ground-strokes has so far managed him wins over Vavassori, Griekspoor, O’Connell and lastly Tomas Machac (6-4, 6-2).

He is 20-1 for the year, with two titles at the AO and Rotterdam, and so far only Carlos Alcaraz has manage a win against the 22-year-old Italian. Sinner also beat Medvedev in the AO final and he surely has an edge, however we don’t think the level difference of these two players are that huge as the odds are showing.

His serve will be very important on Friday if he wants to tear down Medvedev and pressure his backhand.

“It’s going to be an interesting test for me. Hopefully I can show some good tennis, and that’s it. Physically I feel good.” commented Sinner.

Medvedev: “A great challenge for me”

Daniil Medvedev is very aware this will be a tough challenge.

“He’s playing better and better,” was the comment ahead of the match and he also pointed out how this will be a great challenge for him to try to improve his game.

Medvedev is of course is the defending champion here in Miami he’s now aiming to defend a title, something he never managed so far in his career.

So far in the tournament he looked strong, sometimes starting the matches a bit shaky but really shown his experience throughout all games. We’ve seen him wear out players in real high pressure times during the games. He lost his serve only 3 times so far and been at his best when it really matters.

Betting Predictions

We see Sinner as the slight favourite but the odds feel a bit on the low side, and we always want good value bets.

Medvedev has a good chance to reach the final, we all remember his aggressive game in the first two sets in the Australian Open final. This time he’s not been playing as many marathon matches as down under, and he might try the same tactic again.

Now it’s only three sets, which should help him, and if it comes down to an exhausting game in hot conditions, I’d put my money on the Russian.

This is our bet for the exciting Sinner vs Medvedev semi-final!
