The two top ranked players in the world are in action today, where Novak Djokovic faces Casper Ruud and Jannik Sinner takes on Stefanos Tsitsipas. With only four players left in the 2024 Monte Carlo Masters, let’s take a look at todays games and our predictions of who will meet in the final on Sunday.

Sinner vs Tsitsipas

Jannik Sinner had to be on top of his game yesterday when he finally defeated Holger Rune 6-4 6-7(6) 6-3 in the quarter-finals. Rune saved two match points in the 2nd set, went on to win the set and gave the Italian a good challenge.

But as usual lately, nothing can really stop Sinner at the moment and he doesn’t seem to have any weakness in his game.

“Playing against him is never easy, especially in such occasions. I’m very happy I won today, but mostly about my physical level, I raised it today” Sinner commented after the match.

Now he’s up against 12-ranked Stefanos Tsitsipas who has really stepped up his game for this tournament and it’s nice to see him back in form. He won the title here in 2021 and 2022 and seem to really enjoy the courts at Monte Carlo.

The Greek lead their head-to-head stats 5-3, however Sinner took the last two games and he will be considered big favorite to reach the final.

Prediction: Look for Sinner to continue his fine form. Even in quite slow conditions, the Italian won’t give Tsitsipas enough time to set up himself for his strong groundstrokes. We can see him win this in straight sets, even on clay, for odds 1.82 | -120.

Djokovic vs Ruud

World no 1 seem to be getting back in shape after a disappointing season so far. The Serb reached this round by beating De Minaur in straight sets, it wasn’t the most straightforward of wins though and he lost his serve three times in the first set.

Casper Ruud is one of the best clay court players on the tour and he shown a lot of his qualities in Monte Carlo. This will be the toughest test for Djokovic this week, surely.

Following rather easy wins against Tabilo and Hurkacz, Ruud took out Humbert over three sets in a match where he finally dominated the opponent in the third set.

Djokovic is 5-0 (!) in their h2h records with three of them on clay.

Prediction: Like the betting sites, we consider Djokovic the slight favorite today but we can see Ruud claiming one set and win a lot of his serve games. Some interesting bets:

  • Over 0.5 Total Number of Tiebreaks – 2.48
  • Over 21.5, Total Games – 1.72.
