On Monday we’re looking forward to the round of 16 clash between 13th seed American Taylor Fritz and 4th seed German Alexander Zverev as the last game of the day.
Fritz has shown solid form over the first week in London and is one of the outsiders for the title. Now he faces his biggest task yet. The straight set win over Alejandro Tabilo was impressive and before that he took out Christopher O’Connell and Arthur Rinderknech to reach this round. With 92% of points on his first serve again he would trouble even Zverev, but this will be another type of match.
The American is 34-12 for the year and an impressive 9-1 on grass courts including the Eastbourne ATP title.
Zverev looks in great form still and three successive straight set wins confirms it, even if he had kind of a nice draw so far. He survived a small knee injury in the previous round and managed to take out home favorite Cam Norrie in a classic third-set tiebreak, eventually winning 6-4 6-4 7-6(15).
The German had a great year with an impressive run at the French Open and the Rome title not at least. 4th ranked Zverev won both previous meetings vs Fritz at the Championships, however both games were difficult and even matches.
Fritz v Zverev H2H
These two met eight times in total on the tour and Zverev holds a 5-3 lead ahead of their 2024 Wimbledon clash.
The latest meeting was at the Rome Masters earlier this year where the German took it in two straight sets.
Predictions for Taylor Fritz vs Sasha Zverev
Tihs will be interesting, that’s for sure. Two in-form players with strong serves, this might be a 5-set battle and this will be one of our bets for today.
Even though both players are comfortable on all surfaces, we feel Fritz has a small advantage of grass and his confidence is on top at the moment. Time for revenge?
