There are a couple of upcoming reviews here on Tennisnerd and our YouTube channel. Let’s go through them. For more, go to my Patreon. Upcoming Reviews on Tennisnerd I have received many questions about the new Wilson Ultra 100 V4. I have a demo coming my way and it should be here this week. I like to get some a few weeks with my racquets before I review them, but I usually post my first impressions on my Patreon. Henrik and I recorded a podcast about the new Ultra 100 V4 where he shares his thoughts about this racquet (and …

Alex Mann has written daily predictions and summaries for the green slam. Now it’s time for his Wimbledon 2022 Summary. After two weeks of eating strawberries and cream, drinking Pimm’s, relaxing on Henman Hill, soaking up the atmosphere and watching the tennis unfold on Centre Court, Wimbledon 2022 has finally come to a close. This year’s tournament has brought us many magical memories, new and old, and some unexpected storylines. Here are my favorite moments from this year’s tournament and a final review of the men’s and women’s finals. My favorite moments from Wimbledon 2022 Serena’s Return One of the …
From today, Wednesday 8th, I will be watching some good grass court tennis at the Boss Open. Murray, Kyrgios, Shapovalov, the field is strong! The Boss Open was previously called the Merdeces Cup (or Stuttgart Open), but has since 2022 changed title sponsor. Hugo Boss or “Boss” is now moving into tennis, most famously with this title sponsorship and that of Matteo Berrettini. It’s fun to see other mainstream or high-end brands moving into tennis. Every injection and exposure the sport can get in this difficult media landscape is appreciated. This is my fifth year or so at the Stuttgart …
I have a few remaining reviews before I present my thoughts on the best racquets of 2020. The Wilson Blade Pro, the Blade 102 SW, and more. The racquet that has generated the most interest among fellow tennis nerds is the Wilson Blade Pro from the Wilson Pro Labs line. Is it the famous H22 pro stock or something else? By all accounts, it is the H22 and that means a quite hefty racquet that is not for the faint of heart. Still, I like the H22, have owned a few of them and I’m keen to try the Blade …
I am a health nut. I put a lot of focus on staying healthy and avoiding injuries and I have a few things I do to stay in decent shape. I have always loved exercise. My body craves it. That doesn’t make me “Mr. Ripped”, because I love eating good food and drinking wine too. Life for me is all about balance, but priority number one is feeling good, staying healthy, and avoiding injuries. I am not getting any younger (nearing 40 now) and I want to be able to play tennis frequently for years to come. My tennis schedule …
If you are lost on what racquet to use, one part that will make the journey easier is knowing your racquet spec. I published my MRR-list (match-ready-racquet list) a little while ago. That list became a bit broader than intended because I am testing so many racquets that it makes sense for me to readily be able to switch from a 95 to a 100 sq inch racquet. But that’s obviously not perfect. I have a racquet spec range and to optimize my own performance and play on the court, I need to stick to that and not have too …
I don’t own that many racquets, but I do test new racquets all the time. I simply have too many racquets to choose from. This situation makes it difficult for me to get really used to one racquet and be confident in time for a tournament match. Let’s take a recent match in the 2020 Malta Open as an example, I used two different racquets in the first set before I settled on one for the second set. I played better, but it was too little too late. To avoid having too many racquets to choose from for a match, …
I’ve gotten some comments on YouTube that I play better with a powerful racquet. This is why I felt obliged to write a post on Power vs Control racquets. When I write power vs control racquets, the clip I am referring to is my latest post on the new HEAD Extreme racquets. I do enjoy the free power and spin in these racquets but when it comes to matches and tournament play, I gravitate towards control-oriented frames to be able to swing more freely with greater margin for error. I just made a vlog about this topic on my Patreon …
What is the most important thing about choosing a racquet? It is not a question with an easy answer. But here are some things to consider. Your choice of racquet and string is deeply personal. What you like and what you play well with, is entirely up to you. Yes, you can and should listen to advise from informed people. But the decision is ultimately yours. Some players won’t need help with power, others will. Some are obsessed with how a racquet feels, others are not. I think the racquet needs to feel good to you though. The ultimate goal …
I wanted to create a humorous video where I broke one of my old racquets and gave the advice “Don’t Break Your Racquet”, but something went wrong… There are many ways a racquet can break. Mishits on the frame, poor stringing, or – the most visual and aggressive one – when you smash it in frustration. My response to this is “Don’t break your racquet”, but when I wanted to illustrate this through a video by breaking one of my own racquets, I forgot to press record on the camera. So this is what I am left with. Some players …
