I’ve been waiting for some one-handed backhand instruction on the TopCourt platform so I was thrilled to see Grigor Dimitrov on TopCourt! I have enjoyed the TopCourt platform since I became a member a year or so ago, but as I mentioned in my TopCourt Review, there was no proper one-handed backhand player on the platform. That’s why I was excited about the news in my inbox this morning: Grigor Dimitrov is now on TopCourt. Not only does he have a beautiful one-handed backhand, but he also seems like the kind of guy that can explain and coach it in …

The backhand slice is mostly seen as a defensive shot to win time, change pace, and get back into position. But there are pros that use it as a weapon. Have you been watching the Western and Southern Open? It’s nice to have ATP tennis back and I try to watch as much as time allows through TennisTV. They usually do a solid highlights package per match if you can’t watch the full match. Yesterday I saw a part of the match between Dan Evans and Andrey Rublev. I thought it would be entertaining and I wasn’t wrong. Rublev hits …
Tennis returns! From today you can watch tennis live on the Challenger Tour. There are two tournaments this week. Prague and Todi. I should really write, “Men’s Tennis returns” because the women are already underway from last week with Fiona Ferro winning the WTA Tournament in Palermo. It will, therefore, be interesting to watch tennis …
I am not sure if you have watched the Ultimate Tennis Showdown by now, but I really enjoy the new format and the production of the event… The Ultimate Tennis Showdown is an exhibition event with a bunch of experimental rule changes. I wrote about it in my first posts about this summer’s tennis exhibitions. It creates an …
It might sound like a stupid question: Do you need to be tall to play tennis? But looking at the average height of top tennis players… Whenever I’ve been fortunate to “hang around” a players’ lounge during an ATP tournament, I’ve felt like a midget. I’m not tall by tennis player means, especially when you’re talking about the upper echelons of the game. It has almost made me ponder the question, do you need to be tall to play tennis? Well, obviously you can play fantastic tennis even if you’re below average in height. But it is likely that you …

Being a pro tennis player means dedicating your life to a sport that is as tough as it is popular. If you’re wondering how to become a professional tennis player, …
