Babolat RPM Blast has been one of the most popular polyester strings on tour ever since it came out with users such as Stan Wawrinka and Rafael Nadal. Now when the market is moving towards more and more spin, it’s about time that Babolat releases a textured and more spin-friendly version of the RPM Blast. Say hi to Babolat RPM Blast Rough.
I just to play with RPM Blast for a few years and must say it’s a great string, when fresh. This is probably why it’s an excellent choice for professional players, but if you’re a recreational player it might not have the life span you’re looking for and it’s also rather stiff which can be a bad choice for tender arms.
Looking at the reviews for Babolat RPM Blast Rough, they’re generally very positive and the Tennis Industry Mag review gave it the highest durability rating ever for a Babolat string and it did rank well above average in pretty much every category. It seems to rank far comfortable than to regular RPM Blast and with more spin.
I haven’t been able to test the string myself, but it’s high on my list strings I’m going to try out in 2017. Have you played with the new Babolat RPM Blast Rough? Let me know what you think about it!

Definitely worth a try! I played it in a hybrid setup – RPM Rough Mains, Cyclone Crosses. String tension 22/23kg, but next time I would got down ~1kg.
IMO the string plays extremely well, and has slightly more power and spin than Cyclone.
Sounds intriguing. Used to be a big Cyclone fan, but now there are so many other good strings out there, that I haven’t used it in a long time…Cheers / J
