Babolat Pure Strike 2019

by Jonas Eriksson

The Babolat Pure Strike 2019 will be released on June 19 and we will, of course, review this racquet. We don’t know any specs yet, but here is a sneak peek of the new Pure Strike.

There has been chatter on the forums whether the poster boy for the Pure Strike series, Dominic Thiem, is already using the new Pure Strike in the paint job of the 2017 edition, but I can’t confirm anything from my end. It would be pretty cool if that is the case though since most often the pros just stay with what they’re used to and the company paints it to look like the new model.

Babolat Pure Strike 2019 – The New Pure Strike

The new Pure Strike will follow the same paint job as the predecessor in terms of the majority white paint. But there are some new elements introduced, which makes it look busier. Like with all things, it is a matter of taste, I am more interested if there are any new technologies and/or spec changes.

The 2017 Pure Strike was a huge hit and the expectations for the update are high. We will see if Babolat can deliver another classic. My guess is that this racquet will only be slightly different. If you have something that works and that people like, why change it and risk ruining it? I would personally appreciate a slightly lower stiffness rating or more dampening as my sometimes sensitive wrist had an issue with the previous edition.

Hello,
How would you compare the project one 7 to the diadem nova?
Thank you

Sorry, I meant diadem elevate.

Hi Srikar,
The Diadem Elevate has a higher swing weight thanks to the foam filling and is also more comfortable.

Power and spin levels are quite similar. Cheers / Jonas

Thiem is using the new racquet today at the French Open.

Can’t wait to hit with it.

I use the racquet but I don’t like the white paint. It was meant to just be a marketing thing, white instead of blacked out. I don’t understand why people like it. The only problems with the racquet are that it is slow through the air, does not have a nice feel even though it plays nice, and jolts you on off center hits. If they rectify some of that I might stick with it but I doubt they will.

Would be really interesting if the new pure strike are foam-filled, and at a RA of 60-64 that would be a racquet I would definitely try out!

I agree a hundred percent, but the racquet will likely not be foam-filled.

I play with the same racquet. I do not care for the mostly white. It is easy to distinguish it. It’s very head light, which is good for volleys. It’s a good “players” racquet. It’s power is equally as good as it’s control. A very good all court racquet. Interesting to see if any changes make it a better racquet.

The new rocket will have the same paramatres !! The same stiffness but is a bit more pleasant thanks to new technolgology.
I have information from someone associated with Babolat who played it.

Hi guys, firstly I love this site becuase it’s the only place that openly talks actual racket sense for us in the know! I play the last version of the Pure Strike with a bit of lead tape customisation and I absolutely love playing with it weighted up a little. I use the pre-cut tourna strips (which are advertised as 3g but after weighing at least 20 of them on very expensive and accurate scales, I can confirm they are actually precisely 2.55g!) I use one strip at 12, one at 3 and one at 9. I love the feel, but I’m interested to see exactly how/where the extra weight has been added to the new Pure Strike Tour. Can anyone advise on this? I would love to be able to get the specs of a standard version as close to the new tour version as possible so I can hit with it first and get an idea if I want to splash out on a new set of rackets or not! I also noticed that on the Tennis warehkuse global review, the blonde woman said she thinks a weighted up old version could be better than this new version. Thoughts?! Thanks, Aaron

Hi Aaron,
Not really sure where the weight is based, but if you experiment a bit you should be able to get a really nice performance with your current stick.

If your current setup plays great, stick with it! Regards / J

If you want to take your tennis to another level, try this PURE STRIKE 18/20. This is the best racquet I have played with. I have customized it with four lead stripes at 3 o’clock and at 9 o’clock of 10 centimeters long, and silicone in the butt, until reaching 320 grams with a balance of 315 mm. Strung with Babolat RPM Power, this is by far the best racquet I’ve ever used in my life. Better not put an dampener, so you know if you are hitting correctly. I am a senior tennis player, top 100 ITF Seniors, champion in multiple times state tournaments, both singles and doubles. I coach college and ITF Junior level players every day, with whom I have to face on the court, and with this great racquet I keep them at bay!
