Dunlop FX V2 Racquets

by Jonas Eriksson

There are a bunch of interesting new racquets for 2023. We will go through them individually, but let’s start with Dunlop FX V2 racquets.

Dunlop FX V2 Racquets

The Dunlop FX series is Dunlop’s power series. A reply to Babolat Pure Drive, HEAD Instinct, Yonex Ezone etc. The first generation was good but a bit too stiff/firm for my liking. But based on the technologies behind the Dunlop FX V2 racquets, it seems like they have focused on improving the comfort and feel in their second generation.

Technology

I have collected information about the various technologies from the Dunlop official website.

Sonic Core with Infinergy

• Located at the 2 and 10 o’clock areas of the racket.
• Super-elastic, super-light material offers rebound properties significantly higher than other materials.
• Reduced vibrations mean reduced impact and more comfort.

Grommet Structure

A wider and deeper precision groove engineered into the racket frame creates more pull-back of the strings at impact, resulting in more power.

Put control in the palm of your hand

Re-designed string bed is larger across the main & cross strings, providing more even power distribution, particularly at the racket top. String movement generates more power & spin.

Increased power and stability

An aerodynamic power head shape provides a sharp, modern-looking shaft. The wider throat provides more stability.

FX 500 TOUR

This is the racquet I’m most interested in myself. The previous one was good, but I felt like it lacked some feel and stability. I hope this is improved in the V2 of the Dunlop FX 500 Tour.

FX 500

My personal favorite of the gen 1 FX racquets. Easy to swing, good power, but a little stiff. If they have focused on comfort, this will be an interesting racquet.
