Nicolas Mahut is perhaps more famous as the doubles partner of Pierre Hughes-Herbert, or the guy who lost the longest tennis match in history (against John Isner in Wimbledon 2010) but he is also a previous Boys Wimbledon champion and has won four singels titles, all on grass. This means he can obviously play also singles on a really high level, especially on faster surfaces. Yesterday he definitely proved as much when he beat hot up-and-coming rising star Alexander Zverev in straight sets in Marseille. So what racquet did he use to notch up such a fine win?
Mahut endorses the Wilson Burn line, but is actually playing a Wilson pro stock mould called H22 in a 16×19 string pattern. He uses a hybrid of natural gut and poly string, but I’m not sure if it’s a Wilson Champion’s Choice setup or something else. I would guess Champions Choice.
Mahut is currently ranked #54 in the world and lives in Angers, France.
