Alexandra Eala’s Racquet – Player Profile

Alexandra Eala

Alexandra Eala is a Filipino tennis player making history as her countryโ€™s brightest star in the sport and she is currently on a great run at the Miami Open. But what is Eala’s racquet and gear?

Alexandra Eala’s tennis racquet

Alexandra Eala’s racquet is a Babolat Pure Aero 2023, most likely strung with Babolat RPM Blast. However, she did use the 2016 version when she won the iconic junior/kids tournament Les Petit As. And her racquet was painted like the Babolat Pure Aero 2019, when she won the Junior Grand Slam at the US Open. What is the difference between the 2016 and 2019 Pure Aeros compared to the latest edition (we will get a new Pure Aero in 2026)? Besides slightly different layups, with the feel becoming softer over the years from 2016, which was stiffer, to the latest edition which are more dampened thanks to the Flax fibres and NF2-tech. The main difference is the string pattern, which was more open in the 2016 and 2019 models but is denser and more controlled in the 2023 version.

Looking closely at pictures of Alexandra Eala’s racquet, I would guess she still uses the 2016 version but with the 2023 cosmetic. But it is just a guess. If you have any more info about Eala’s racquet and specifications (and string tension), please reach out on Instagram or comment below.

Bio and Career

Alexandra Eala was born on May 23rd, 2005, in Quezon City, Philippines and she began playing tennis at the age of 4. “Alex” as she is usually called, won the Les Petit As tournament already at 12 and then went on to train at the Rafa Nadal Academy in Mallorca.

Eala had a great junior career, peaking at No. 2 in the ITF rankings in 2020. She became the first Filipino to win a junior Grand Slam singles title at the 2022 US Open, defeating Lucie Havlickova, and also clinched the 2020 Australian Open girls doubles crown with Priska Nugroho.

Turning pro in 2020, she claimed her first ITF title in 2021 at Manacor, Spain, and has since secured five ITF singles titles and three ITF doubles titles.

Her WTA breakthrough came in 2025 at the Miami Open, where, as a wildcard ranked No. 140, she upset several big names including Madison Keys (her first Top 10 win) and world no 2 Iga Swiatek in straight sets (6-2, 7-5), reaching the semifinals. This made her the first Filipina to defeat Top 10 players and reach a WTA 1000 semifinal.

Alexandra Eala is currently ranked no 140, while her career high rank is 134.

  1. It is a 2023. There is an easy way to diferentiate the 23 from the 16 and 19 editions. There are 2 main/cross intersections on the 2023, and 3 main/cross intersections on the 16 and 19 versions. Look it up. Got this tip from a tennistalk forum talking about Marozsan’s racquet.
