Young Czech prodigy Tomas Machac turned professional in 2017 and is a player to look out for in the coming years. Learn more about the career and racquet of Tomas Machac.
Tomas Machac’s Tennis Racquet
Tomas Machac has been a Yonex VCORE 100 user for many years. He is not using the current Yonex VCORE 100 2023, a well-beloved racquet by club players worldwide. If you study the mold of his racquet, it looks very much like a Yonex VCORE SV 100. Many pros enjoy the SV line due to its more raw feel and lack of dampening. But for most intermediate to advanced rec players, I think the new VCORE will provide more in terms of power, spin and comfort. However, it is more difficult to control.
Machac’s tennis racquet is strung with Yonex PolyTour Fire at around 20 kg or 44 lbs. Tensions change depending on conditions, but for a 100 sq inch racquet, this is a low tension that will give him loads of free depth. Elena Rybakina is another player who loves this combo of a Yonex VCORE 100 strung with PolyTour Fire.
Biography and Career
Tomas Machac was born on 13th October 2000 and started playing tennis at age 5. He’s been training at TK Sparta Praha in Prague since he was 10 years old.
Tomas turned pro at 17 years and he won his first ATP Challenger singles title in the beginning of 2020. A bigger break-through came in 2021 when he qualified for the Australian Open main draw and the following year he made his Masters 1000 debut at the Indian Wells Open and got his first win at this level with his win over Alexei Popyrin.
2024 has seen Tomas Machac take a big step. The Czech reached the top 50 in the ATP rankings following his first Masters 1000 quarterfinal at the Miami Open after defeating Andy Murray and Matteo Arnaldi.
At the Paris Olympics in the same year, Tomas won the gold medal in the mixed doubles with partner Katerina Siniakova.
We believe it’s only a matter of time until Tomas Machac wins his first ATP title after seeing his big groundstrokes and nice backhands on tour.

Has also beaten Fritz and knocked Tiafoe out of the Australian Open this year
