Do you wonder what racquet and strings Tsitsipas uses? This post deals with Stefanos Tsitsipas racquet specs and some player details that can be interesting.
Tsitsipas Racquet Specs
Stefanos Tsitsipas is arguably one of the most exciting players on tour. He takes every opportunity to attack the net and plays an aggressive brand of tennis.
Tsitsipas has been using the Wilson Blade 98 18×20 for most of his tennis career. He is currently endorsing the latest V7 version, but most tennis nerds believe that it is the 2013 BLX version with a paint job.
Stefanos Tsitsipas Racquet Specs
The below specs of Tsitsipas racquet come from fellow tennis nerd, Miha Flisek and his website Impacting Tennis.
343 is not a massive swing weight for a pro player, but not meek either. Tsitipas has a very natural and almost classic technique on his forehand that his father Apostolos describes as being close to Del Potro’s in the video below.
Why the Blade 98?
Why is the Blade 98 a solid choice for Stefanos Tsitsipas? Well, he is an aggressive player with a more classical technique. The Blade 98 is a mix of a traditional frame but packs a bit more power than most classic racquets. The extra pop of Tsitsipas racquet (65 RA strung) will make his shots a bit more dangerous and the tight pattern will make sure he can paint the lines if needed. The racquet will also be stable and controlled on volleys, which suits his attacking play.
I wouldn’t recommend using the very stiff string Luxilon 4G at 25/25 kg (55/53 lbs) in a Blade 98 for most recreational players, but pros value control over comfort. When you have close to perfect technique and manage to hit the sweet spot over and over, a stiff string bed like that won’t bother you as much as it would for most intermediate players.
That is why it is rarely a good idea to imitate the pros. You need to find what racquet setup works for you. If you need help, we offer a racquet recommendation service here.
Biography and Career
Stefanos Tsitsipas was born 12 August 1998 to a Greek father (Apostolos Tsitsipas who is also one of his coaches) and a Russian mother, Julia Salnikova. Both of them were really good tennis players and so Stefanos was introduced to the game at a very early age and he began taking lessons when just 6 years old.
Stefanos began playing on the ITF Junior Circuit at the age of 14 (2013) and he was once world No. 1 junior.
He turned professional in 2016 and that was one of the breakthrough years for Tsitsipas, when he got into the quarter-finals of all tournaments he played, even the four Grand Slams.
He played in his first ATP main draw at the Rotterdam Open in 2017 and the year after he got his first career Grand Slam match against Carlos Taberner at Roland Garros.
11 ATP Titles
In total he has won 11 ATP titles and achieved a career-high ranking of no 3 in August, 2021. His career singles record stands at 336-159 (W/L). Tsitsipas finished in Top 10 of the ATP Rankings for past 5 years, at the time of writing he fell down to 11th in the ranks.

I’m not really sure if it’s the 2013 Blade, most of the top pros that play with retail blade choose the “K” (like Goffin), so it could be one of these two, or a pro stock Blade, which is a different animal, probably a softer softer layup, and a close to 60 RA. But that’s not that important.
I’ve seen him live a couple years ago in Estoril Open, he reminds a lot of young RF,and his FH has nothing to do with Delpo’s. It’s a very compact wristy stroke, while Delpo’s has a full loopy take back and hits it very flat.
I hope he wins a slam soon, I would say the Aussie is where he stands a higher chance, the conditions suite him well, and there’s a big Greek community there, so lots of fans support.
Cheers
