We have news from up-and-coming string brand Toroline, who are bringing out Toroline O-Toro Tour and several other strings.
I talked to their founder, Eric Lee, about the new strings, which are in the popular O-Toro family. By the way, Toroline is finally available from Tennis Warehouse Europe. You get 10% off your order using the code TNERD10. But you can, of course, also buy their strings from their official website and use the code TENNISNERD for 20% off or get a custom hybrid from their industry-unique Omakase program.
Introducing New Variations of O-TORO: More Colors, Flex, and Shape Options
This is what Eric told me about their work on the O-Toro string.
At Toroline, our strategy is simple – listen to what the playerโs want and execute. With that there is a whole spectrum of players that we are catering to, which makes the whole process that much more fun for us. That’s why we’re beyond excited to announce the launch of new variations of our best-selling string, O-TORO. Since its development in collaboration with former top-25 ATP pro Steve Johnson, O-TORO has become our best-seller in under six months. Your input has been invaluable, and weโre back with not only more color choices but also new flex and shape options to suit a wider range of playing styles.
O-TORO in White: A Classic Choice
You asked for more neutral colors, and we listened. Not everyone wants the loud neon colors we are known for. The O-TORO string now comes in whiteโdesigned for those who prefer a more neutral, clean aesthetic. Top ATP pros, including Taylor Fritz, have been known to favor white strings for the contrast they provide against the green ball. The visual contrast between a white string bed and a green ball offers superior visibility for some players, and itโs something weโve heard time and again from both pros and recreational players.
But this new color option isnโt just about looks. From a performance standpoint, the white O-TORO offers a slightly crisper feel on contact. Whether you’re focused on your gameโs feel or prefer the Zen-like simplicity of a white string bed, this version of O-TORO is designed to cater to your needs.
O-TORO Tour: More Control and Durability
Much like how golfers choose between different flex ratings for clubs, tennis players can now choose their ideal string flex. Some of you have asked for a stiffer option, similar to the feel of popular models like Luxilon 4G and RPM Blast.ย
DYNAMIC STIFFNESS
LUXILON 4G 1.25MM – 260g/mm
RPM BLAST 1.25MM – 250g/mm
O-TORO TOUR 1.23MM – 250g/mm
O-TORO 1.23MM – 220g/mm
The result is our new O-TORO Tour.
This variant is perfect for players looking for increased durability and control, with a slightly crisper response. The Tour is also ideal for those who prefer a lower tension in their string bed or for players using rackets with a more flexible frame. The increased stiffness enhances the string’s responsiveness and stability at higher swing speeds. With its enhanced stiffness, the O-TORO Tour also complements rackets with a softer flex (RA rating), providing a more stable feel and greater control.
O-TORO Spin: For More Spin and Higher Launch
At Toroline, we know that every player has unique needs regarding spin and launch angle. That’s why we’ve introduced the O-TORO Pentagonal. This new shape takes O-TOROโs performance to the next level with its more aggressive geometry, designed to maximize spin and elevate your game (literally).
If you like to stand on the baseline and rip hit heavy shots or want that extra kick on your second serve, the O-TORO Pentagonal will deliver just that. Its design helps increase launch angle, giving you more power and spin for those aggressive shots.
Stay tuned for more exciting releases, and thank you for being a part of the Toroline journey. We promise thereโs always a method to the madness, and with your feedback, weโll continue to innovate and elevate the game.
Thanks Eric for giving us a detailed insight into your new O-Toro strings. I am currently testing both O-Toro Spin and O-Toro Tour. They suit me better than regular O-Toro, as I like a firmer string for more control. You can of course combine the strings in different hybrid setups, like using O-Toro Tour in the mains and regular O-Toro in the crosses for a slightly softer feel.
Have you tried Toroline strings? What are your thoughts?
Jonas, Youโve made some comments that you thought O-Toro Spin was comparable to Solinco Mach 10. Which string between the two of them do you feel has the best overall playability? Which one has the best feel?
