French Open Draw 2016

by Jonas Eriksson

The French Open Draw was done today and is published on the official website. Without Roger Federer in the draw, Nadal got pushed up to seed number 4.

Looking at the French Open draw of 2016, the dream final of Nadal vs Djokovic is not possible, but we can get a blockbuster semi-final instead since they’re both in the top half of the draw. In the other half we have a possibly great semi-final with Wawrinka and Murray.

Possible early-round excitement

Milos Raonic plays a returning Janko Tipsarevic. Tipsarevic is a very good player and if he can shake the rust and play relaxed I’m sure he can give Raonic a contest on his least favorite surface.

Wawrinka has a potentially tough match against the unsteady but dangerous Lukas Rosol in the first round.

Nadal could face Fognini in the third round. Fognini lost the last time against Nadal, but has beaten him three times.

Can entertaining ex-blogger Tursunov create problems for #14 Bautista Agut?

Oldie but goldie Estrella Burgos loves the clay. What does that mean for Juan Monaco?

Berdych has a 0-2 head-to-head against Pospisil and lost his latest match on tour by being double-bageled by Goffin. Is his confidence good enough to get to round 2?

Can Dimitrov smash even more racquets? Troicki is a tough first round opponent!

Verdasco is playing well, but Dolgopolov is always a tricky opponent. Mostly for himself though.

Gasquet has a tough start against in-form Bellucci.

As you can see – the first round is already interesting in the French Open of 2016. The play starts on Sunday! Here’s a pretty good schedule.
