Karolina Pliskova Is Out of the US Open

Not all tennis players manage to succeed in every tournament, and it looks like people who were eager to check out tennis betting odds for Pliskova will be sad.

The top seed at the U.S. Open, Karolina Pliskova, is out of the U.S. Open after being defeated by none other than Caroline Garcia, with 6-1, 7-6 (2). Serena Williams and Sofia Kenin have been left at the top of the draw as a result.

We were all excited to see more of Pliskova’s performance in the tournament for sure, but this is how things are sometimes. You can follow some of the other amazing players at the event and still get the enjoyment you were looking for.

Garcia hadn’t faced Pliskova since 2018. “I knew I could give her trouble for sure,” she said about her match with the top seed.

Pliskova vs. Garcia

Since Simona Halep and Ashleigh Barty were absent at the U.S. Open, the world No 3, Karolina Pliskova, was the top seed at the event. She faced Caroline Garcia, the current world No 50, who used to be ranked the 4th in the world.

Things didn’t work in Pliskova’s advantage. Garcia had no mercy for the second serves coming from Pliskova and managed to beat her. After the match finished, Garcia spoke about her win and how weird it was to play on a court with no fans.

“I was really going for my shots” she declared, even though it was very unusual to play in a noiseless court, despite the happy end of the match for her. “You are not even sure the match is done because there is no noise.”

Pliskova, Annoyed by the Interview

An understandably disappointed Pliskova was interviewed by a reporter after her loss. She threw her racket after the loss, making it clear that she wasn’t happy with the outcome. During the interview, she was constantly rolling her eyes, sighing, shrugging, or fidgeting with the microphone.

The reporter came up with possible explanations for the defeat, such as a lack of atmosphere due to the missing spectators or the high seeding pressure. “Nothing from what you said,” Pliskova replied to these. “I didn’t play good,” she said as the reasoning for her loss to Garcia.

Then, one of the media members told her that the back-and-forth has to be boring for her, to which Pliskova replied with “Yeah, a little bit. Did you see the match or no? I don’t know if you understand tennis well enough.”

Final Thoughts

With Karolina Pliskova out of the U.S. Open, you can only look at the other players who are still in the game. The event continues and more entertaining matches are about to begin.
