De Minaur Defeats Auger-Aliassime 

Ninth seed Australian Alex de Minaur defeated Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime following a three hour match. He will face Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas in the fourth round.

Today at the Italian Open the third round began with an enthralling three set clash between two top twenty star athletes.

De Minaur ascended to the last sixteen for the second time within six attempts with a 6 – 7(2), 6 – 4, 6 – 4 win over Auger-Aliassime.

The Australian regrouped after a disappointing loss during the first-set tie-break to secure a win.

De Minaur abandoned a 3 – 1 lead in the deciding set but soldiered on after Auger-Aliassime surrendered a crucial break in the ninth game with a double fault.

Following the match de Minaur stated, “I think Felix is a very good player on the clay. He had a lot of confidence coming in, so I’m very happy how I stayed in the match at all stages. I was positive, no matter what came my way. I could have had a double break in the third to maybe secure the match. I didn’t get it, ended up getting broken, and managed to compose myself. So I’m very happy with that.”

Muller In Upset Win Over Rublev 

Frenchman Alexandre Muller gave an emboldened performance with an upset defeat of fourth seed and Madrid champion Andrey Rublev 3 – 6, 6 – 3, 6 – 2.

The twenty-seven year old Muller shut down Rublev’s seven match winning streak, playing a one hour forty-nine minute win against the Russian champ.

Tsitsipas Cruises To Victory Over Norrie

Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas shuts out Britton Cameron Norrie in a rout 6 – 2, 7 – 6(1) in the third round in Rome today.

After this decisive defeat and a match that lasted one hour thirty- four minutes, Norrie exits the Italian Open and Tsitsipas goes onto the fourth round.

Paul Victorious Over Koepfer 

Number fourteen seed American Tommy Paul was victorious over German Domik Koepfer 6 – 4, 6 – 3.

Hurkacz Winner Over Etcheverry 

Number seven seed Polish player Hubert Hurkacz prevails over number twenty-five seed Argentinian Tomas Martin Etcheverry 7 – 6(7), 6 – 2 today at the Rome Masters.

Hurkacz was asked after the match, “Is this the most confident you’ve been on clay courts?”

Hurkacz answered, “I think so. Definitely… Especially matches like this with Tomas, who’s such a good competitor. It gives confidence that I was able to get through…”.

Ahead of this victory, Hurkacz defeated Rafael Nadal 6 – 1, 6 – 3.

Jarry Triumphs Against Napolitano 

Number twenty-one seed Chilean Nicholas Jarry dispatched Italian wild card Stefano Napolitano 6 – 2, 4 – 6, 6 – 4 at the Italian Open today.

Medvedev Topples Medjedovic

Defending champion Russian Daniil Medvedev conquered Serbian Hamad Medjedovic 7 – 6, 2 – 6, 7 – 5 in a two hour fifty minute trounce.

Number four ranked Medvedev will play against number fourteen seed American Tommy Paul in the fourth round.

Medvedev has reached round sixteen of all five Masters 1000 events thus far this season.

Baez Takes Out Rune 

Sebastian Baez returns to eliminate runner up Holger Rune 2 – 6, 6 – 2, 6 – 3.

Rune was mentally in the devastating last two sets.

Baez forced Rune to work hard in the second set only to see Rune give away the last game.
