Philipp Kohlschreiber (who still swings the legendary Wilson Six One 95 line successfully) is one of those players who possess more talent than his results shows. He has the skill set to beat the best but often seem to lack the resolve and the mental toughness. Never was this more evident than yesterday, when he played an epic 30 minute tie-breaker against Andy Murray (and his Head PT57A pro stock in a Graphene Radical paint job) in Dubai and despite having seven (!) match points, lost it and the match there. Because with that mental hurdle overcome, Murray could cruise through the third and deciding set. Scoreline: 6-7 7-6 (18) 6-1 in the Scot’s favour. You will find the highlights of this taxing affair below.
Is world number one Andy Murray moving towards his first title of the year? Very possibly.
