Five-time Madrid Open champion Rafael Nadal will take on Pedro Cachin in the third round of the Madrid ATP tournament on Monday afternoon.
The interest from fans whenever Nadal is playing is huge and even more so after the strong performances on the early stages of the event in the Spanish capital. It was glimpses of the old Rafa we saw in the impressive straight set win over Alex de Minaur in the previous round, and some of us start to question if this is really his last year…
If he reaches the level of being a main contender for the Madrid title remains to be seen but it’s interesting to watch and in todays game he’s a huge favorite at the betting sites.
Pedro Cachin is surely up for the challenge though and it’s always a dream for any player to take on Nadal in a major clay tournament. He came to Madrid after 10 (!) straight losses and somehow has managed to turn around his form with a win over Sebastian Ofner followed by defeating world no 21 Frances Tiafoe in an impressive manner.
First meeting
Nadal and Cachin has never met each other previously so it will be the first match in their H2H stats.
It will be interesting to see how Nadal can remain his form and keep up physically, now in the third round. Cachin is a player that loves the clay surface but is it enough vs the King of Clay? We don’t think so.
Cachin will look to get some advantage of his strong first serve. So far in Madrid he has 11 aces and has also 79 won points out of 115 on his first serve.
These are some of the odds for todays match:
- Rafa Nadal to win, 1.20 | -500
- Pedro Cachin to win, 5.00 | +400
- Rafa to win in straight sets, 1.62 | -162.5
- Cachin to win at least one set, 2.30 | +125
