Raonic over-powered Federer

Milos didn’t hold back in Brisbane! Grrr!

2015 wasn’t the best year for Canadian 25-year-old Milos Raonic (Missile Milos), but he couldn’t have asked to a better start to 2016, beating Roger Federer 6-4 6-4 in the Brisbane final.

Raonic did pretty much everything well in the final. His strategy was clear from the start, play ultra aggressively and attack the net on Federer’s backhand. And Federer didn’t have the kind of day where passing shots came easily, actually most of them hit the top of the net. He shook his head multiple times and almost laughed at his inability to make his tennis work. It just wasn’t his day.

So instead all kudos should go to Raonic, who deserved the title in a rematch from last year’s final. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for him after a tough year plagued with injuries. Although he’s not the most spectacular player to watch, he sure has the game for it.
