It didn’t go five sets, but was still a fantastic battle. I don’t know if I should be surprised that Stan the Man Wawrinka overpowered the world number one in four sets: 4-6 6-4 6-3 6-4, but I’m definitely IMPRESSED.

How did he beat the almost supernaturally talented Djokovic? He played with more aggression and courage. He went for his shots. And most of all, he believed he could do it. The only way you can beat a player in the form Djokovic is in is play the best tennis of your life. Wawrinka did that. He has the talent and power to beat anyone on any day and this was his day.

You have to feel a bit sorry for Djokovic who deserves a Roland Garros trophy at some point. But big congrats to Stan Wawrinka who definitely deserved getting his second slam.

Time to hit the grass courts. Posting might be sketchy next week, because I’m going to Stuttgart and Mercedes Cup for the first grass court tournament of the season.
