The countdown to the release of “Topspin 2k25” is here. Scheduled for release on April 26th 2024, this latest version in the iconic tennis video-game series looks exciting at first glance! The last big tennis game from 2K came back in 2011.
Developed by 2K Sports, “Topspin 2k25” is a revival of the tennis video game simulation series that so many of us used to enjoy. The game is now available for pre-order for  PlayStation5, PlayStation4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC via Steam.
One of the game’s most exciting features is the inclusion of playable real-life professional tennis players.
Carlos Alcaraz is not only one of the top ranked tennis players, but also a big fan of video games. Carlos is one of the players anticipating the opportunity to play as their favorite tennis pro’s, or… as Alcaraz himself expressed it; his excitement at being able to play as himself!
“Being in (a video game) is funny. It’s funny for me, I always played with a lot of characters, a lot of players, and being able to play with myself is going to be (fun) for me, so I’m really excited about it.”, said the Spaniard, and clarified;
“Yeah, I really want to play (as) myself!”
A True Simulation Experience
Early hands-on previews of “Topspin 2k25” have left most gamers/critics impressed with the game’s attention to detail and commitment to realism. IGN describes the game as a “great tennis sim” praising its fluid gameplay mechanics and lifelike player animations.
Special Editions
In addition to the standard edition of the game, 2K has announced several special editions that offer some unique perks for players. The Deluxe Edition, offers a lot of exclusive content and early access opportunities.
Features and Players
As expected, Topspin 2k25 features a lot of tennis legends (24 in total), old and current. Some of these include Serena Williams, Roger Federer and Andre Agassi. Other well-known names you can play as; No 1 WTA Ranked Iga Swiatek, Carlos Alcaraz and Frances Tiafoe. Each player recreated in quite stunning detail.
As for most games nowadays, there’s also the option to create “My Player”, your own branded character. With your player you can complete new challenges, earn XP to unlock attributes and new gear over time.
The game has 48 different courts, including 15 real-life venues. Play at any of the four Grand Slams or other famous courts like at the Indian Wells Gardens. It’s also cool that outdoor courts have both day and night options.

Official pre-order date is 26th April, anyone buying the Deluxe or Grand Slam edition can order a few days earlier, on April 23rd.
