It was the first all-Swiss final in since 2000 when Rosset beat Federer and again Federer had to be the runner-up after Wavrinka came back from a first set loss with the scoreline: 4-6 7-6 6-2 in Wavrinka’s favour.
For a Fed fan every loss hurts, especially when it’s in tournaments he’s never won before, but you just have to give to Wavrinka who played well throughout the tournament and he’s having his best year with 6-0 against Top Ten players. Impressive to say the least!
Wavrinka said after the match:
I don’t have much to add to that. One of my tweets sum my feelings up the best:
Not a day to be sad about Roger's loss, but to be impressed by Stan's win & spirit. Two great champions. Let's hope for a @daviscup trophy!
