As the off-season is coming for the WTA tour players, we can start to look ahead to the 2025 WTA tour season which features more than 50 tournaments across 26 countries / regions.
Ahead of the previous season, the WTA introduced a revised calendar structure, to improve the long term growth for everyone included in the tour events. 2025 will be the second year of this revised structure of what is officially called The Hologic WTA Tour.
Steve Simon is the WTA Chairman and CEO, and he commented about the upcoming season:
“We strive to create the best possible experience for everyone involved in women’s tennis, and from our first tournaments in Australia through to the WTA Finals Riyadh, it’s going to be another captivating season on the Hologic WTA Tour in 2025.”
The WTA tour includes events for Grand Slams, WTA1000, WTA500, WTA250, the WTA Finals, The Billie Jean King Cup (world cup), and the combined WTA/ATP event United Cup.

Changes in 2025
As usual, there are a few changes to the new season, for the 2025 calendar, these include:
- The Eastbourne WTA 500 event will now instead be played at the The Queen’s Club in the first week of the grass season (beginning of July)
- The WTA250 tournament in Nottingham will be moved for one week later than usual, and is to be played in the second week of the grass court season.
- An added WTA250 will be hosted in Eastbourne in the third week of grass season, alongside the WTA500 in Bad Homburg (DE).
- The Montreal and Cincinnati WTA 1000 tournaments will become 12-day tournaments.
Dates for the Women’s Grand Slams in 2025
- Australian Open Hard-court – January 12-26, 2025.
- French Open (Roland Garros) Clay – May, 25 – June 8, 2025.
- Wimbledon | Grass – June 30 – July 13, 2025.
- US Open Hard-court – August 25 – September 7, 2025.
This upcoming WTA season will be the no 52 since the elite tour was founded by Billie Jean King back in -73. Now it offers around $212 million in prize money and there are over 1600 players involved.
