Milos Raonic and Andy Roddick

by Jonas Eriksson

The start of the tennis season shows there is a few players who seem to be on a real hot streak. Soderling has won three (!!) tournaments already and only lost one match, in the Australian Open fourth round against uprising Ukrainian star Dolgopolov. Does this mean he can climb up to spaces 1-3 this year? After seeing Djokovic’s play in Melbourne I don’t think so although it would make for exciting news.

Milos Raonic is another player in fantastic form. The 20-year old Canadian is breaking into the top 50 after reaching the Quarters in AO, winning San Jose, and getting to the final of Memphis. His play is based a lot on his serve which is probably the best on the tour at the moment but he moves and hits surprisingly well for a big guy. If things keep going this way, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the top 10 at the end of the year. Like his idol Sampras, he seems to have the right mindset for big things.

Thirdly, you got to hand it to Andy Roddick for always putting up a fight. He managed to beat Raonic in the final in Memphis and he did it in an amazing way. Here is the final fantastic point.
