Stefanos Tsitsipas is ready for BOSS Open, which starts tomorrow, Saturday 4th. It’s his debut at the event.

Stuttgart, 3rd June 2022. – Stefanos Tsitsipas will kick off his grass-court campaign in 2022 at the BOSS OPEN in Stuttgart. The winner of eight ATP tournaments (amongst them the ATP finals 2019 in London, as well as the Masters 1000 tournaments 2021 and 2022 in Monte Carlo) has already set some records, despite his young age. The current no. 4 in the world will also head the preliminary seeding list at the Weissenhof, followed by Italy’s Matteo Berrettini (ATP 10), Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz (ATP 13), and Canadian Denis Shapovalov (ATP 15).

By reaching last year’s French Open final, Tsitsipas was the first Greek to reach the final at a Grand Slam tournament. Furthermore, at only 22 years of age in Roland Garros 2021, he was also the youngest player to reach the final of one of the four Grand Slam tournaments since Andy Murray in 2010 at the Australian Open in Melbourne. Moreover, Tsitsipas was not even 21 when he had already celebrated victories against Novak Djokovic (2018 in Toronto), Roger Federer (2019 at the Australian Open), and Rafael Nadal (2019 in Madrid). Tsitsipas will also compete in Stuttgart’s doubles competition with his brother Petros.

Struff gets a wild card

Another main draw wild card went to Jan-Lennard Struff, making it three German Players in the main draw, as Oscar Otte and Daniel Altmaier directly qualified for the BOSS OPEN. Seven other Germans will try their luck in the qualification starting on Saturday, where four spots in the main draw are on the line.

“Having Stefanos Tsitsipas compete in the BOSS OPEN is yet another upgrade for our tournament. We are delighted that he will make his debut here, just like Andy Murray. We all know that Jan-Lennard Struff can achieve great things at the Weissenhof, as he proved in 2019 when he reached the semi-finals”, tournament director Edwin Weindorfer explains.
