Today, we have packed scheduled ATP tournaments in Rio, Los Cabos, and Qatar. Here is our Stan Wawrinka vs Facundo Acosta prediction.
We all know and love Stan the Man Wawrinka, but who is Facundo Acosta? Facundo Diaz Acosta won the ATP tournament in Buenos Aires without dropping a set. He is a 23-year-old leftie from Argentina, playing with a Wilson Blade 98 18/20. It is painted to look like the new V9 Blade but is likely an older model.
Stan is 15 years older and has won 15 more titles (including three Grand Slams) compared to Diaz Acosta, but they are now close in the rankings. Acosta is at a personal best of 59 after his win, detailed in This Week in Tennis 8, while Wawrinka is still playing at a good level, which is not what it once was, arguably (67 in the world).
Odds and Predictions
Stan is the favorite in the odds at around 1.72, depending on which of the best tennis betting sites you go to, while Acosta gives 2.10. The key to this match is how fresh Acosta feels after playing many matches in Buenos Aires. I have a feeling his legs might be a little tired and despite being at a 1-2 win/loss stat this year, I believe Stan can win this match in three sets.
It usually takes him a while to get going, but when he dials in his impressive ground strokes, then he will have too much firepower for Diaz Acosta.
Prediction: 2-1 in sets to Stan Wawrinka (should net around 3.75 times your money).
