It’s time to conclude the play-test of the Wilson Ultra Tour. I can already say it is one of the best new racquets I’ve played in the last five years. I’ve written quite a bit about the Wilson Ultra Tour already (Wilson Ultra Tour First Impressions, the Wilson Ultra line and about the Wilson Ultra 100 CV) so there’s no point in repeating myself. I think Wilson has waited too long to release a frame that is so ripe for customization that a packet of lead tape and instructions should be included in the box! But I’m happy it’s here. The …
Wilson Ultra Tour review
I’ve had a first hit with the Wilson Ultra Tour and want to give you my initial impression about this much talked about racquet. Full review to come. The test racquet I have is strung with Luxilon Alu Power. It’s not my string of choice, but it works alright in the Wilson Ultra Tour. For the next couple of session I might string it up with a more spin-friendly string since the trajectory of the 18×20 is rather low. Compared to the Angell TC 97 Custom 18×20 I’m playing with at the moment, I really feel like I get less spin …
The most buzzed about racquets right now are the Wilson Ultra series of racquets out on August 15 (available for pre-order right now) and some reviews are already in. If you want to read more about the different Wilson Ultra racquets check out this post. The most exciting Wilson Ultra racquet for racquet nerds should be the Wilson Ultra Tour – a flexible, tour-inspired frame that needs some lead tape and leather grip to really shine. The racquet has now been reviewed by both Tennis Express and Tennis Warehouse and both gave the racquet positive reviews although none of the play-testers talked …
The hype around the new Wilson Ultra line is quite big among racquet fans, especially since it is rumoured Wilson will release the pro stock racquet H19 with the name Ultra Tour. Now the whole Wilson Ultra line-up is revealed. Wilson today published their new Ultra line-up online and it seems like the H19 – or a brother to it – will be available for purchase. This is big news for fans of flexible racquets and I’m sure the Wilson Ultra Tour will sell like hotcakes among tennis aficionados. Pre-order the Wilson Ultra racquets at Pro Direct Tennis or Tennis Express Wilson have …
In time for US Open the racquet companies are preparing new product launches or updates to existing racquet lines such as Wilson Ultra CV, Babolat Pure Drive and Yonex E-zone. The Wilson Ultra has been the most buzzed-about line on tennis forums with speculations that the Wilson Ultra Tour might be the fabled pro stock racquet mould called H19 (Wilson’s copy of HEAD’s legendary PT57A). The Wilson Ultra line will be endorsed by players such as Gael Monfils (using a H19 since he switched from Prince) and Borna Coric (who previously played with Yonex). The H19 racquets are flexible, thin-beamed racquets that …
