Brisbane betting guide

The first of many events to come on the ATP Tour in the new year is the Brisbane International. Letโ€™s take a closer look at what might happen when some of the best – such as Novak Djokovic, Holger Rune and Nick Kyrgios – cross paths.ย

ATP Brisbane Odds and Favorites

A total of 32 players will compete at this event from the 250 series of ATP events. Only one can lift the trophy, so keep reading to find out if itโ€™s going to be Novak Djokovic or maybe Grigor Dimitrov, who won the event last year.

Menโ€™s Brisbane International Betting Odds

  • Novak Djokovic @ 1.83 (-120)
  • Grigor Dimitrov @ 8.00 (+700)
  • Holger Rune @ 9.00 (+800)
  • Matteo Berrettini @ 15.00 (+1400)
  • Frances Tiafoe @ 19.00 (+1800)

Somewhat expectedly, Djokovic is a massive favorite compared to the rest of the field. His betting odds of winning are basically four times as high as those of Dimitrov, the defending champion.ย

Holger Rune having the third-best odds is also quite expected, as the Danish player made the final last year. From here, odds lengthen, with Matteo Berrettini and Frances Tiafoe considered much longer shots at the title.

Top Menโ€™s Seeds in Brisbane

  1. Novak Djokovic
  2. Grigor Dimitrov
  3. Holger Rune
  4. Frances Tiafoe
  5. Sebastian Korda
  6. Alejandro Tabilo
  7. Alexei Popyrin
  8. Jordan Thompson

The field at this yearโ€™s Brisbane International is really strong with several amazing tennis players. Four top-20 players are in attendance, with a raft of other big names that are expected to be competitive too.

Betting Tips and Predictions for the ATP Brisbane International

Youโ€™ve seen what the betting sites have to say, and how the Brisbane International is seeded, but what about our predictions. Hereโ€™s some things to consider for your Brisbane ATP betting:

  1. Dimitrov to Win

Djokovic is the top seed at this year’s Brisbane International, but that doesnโ€™t mean that he will win the event. Itโ€™s the start of the season, he might start slow, and he might simply not care enough to win the event. As bizarre as that sounds, other players should be far more motivated.

Somebody like Dimitrov understands that events like this one are a holy grail when it comes to winning a trophy. Itโ€™s the start of the season, and most players will be looking to play a couple of competitive matches.

Very few players will be actively pushing to win the event, but as someone who hasnโ€™t won that many events in his career, Dimitrov will certainly have an edge when it comes to motivation compared to the rest. He also won the Brisbane International last year, which makes it far more likely that he will win it again.

The conditions suit his style of play, and again, the motivation factor is a very important thing. This early in the season it might just be the difference between a player making a deep run or losing early at the event.

sebastian korda
Sebastian Korda
  1. Korda to Make the Final

Another player who has historically played superb tennis down under is Sebastian Korda.ย

In fact, the American nearly beat Novak Djokovic here in a final before, though that was in Adelaide and not Brisbane. The point still stands. Korda has been amazing down under for a while now. Heโ€™s even taken out Daniil Medvedev from the Australian Open before, and that’s a player who has made a couple of finals there (three to be precise).

Korda has all the weapons needed. He has a massive serve, plus a flat style of playing his shots which does wonders on hard courts, especially quicker ones like this. Heโ€™s generally healthy at the start of the year too, which is very important.

As great as heโ€™s been in the past, the problem for Korda oftentimes has been not being healthy enough. Thatโ€™s not an issue early on in the year, so overall, if Korda is to make a huge run, itโ€™s likely to happen at the start of the season down under in Australia.

  1. Djokovic to not make the final

Djokovic is the top seed at the event and by far the most likely player to win. Even so, there is some value in pursuing the Serbian not to make the final, and it comes down to motivation.

He should be motivated to do well, but this isnโ€™t the event he cares about. Heโ€™s been on record saying that he only plays for the Grand Slams, and we should expect his best to show up there. This event is mostly an event to play a couple of matches and just get into competitive shape.

Itโ€™s also to feel the courts a little bit after the winter slumber, so just a casual event for him. Itโ€™s not unthinkable that a player beats him before the final with that attitude, though obviously doing so will require quite a good level.
