It’s the second round of the Cinch Championships, or ATP 500 Queen’s Club Championships, and we have a superb match to follow on Thursday when the 2024 Roland Garros winner Carlos Alcaraz meet the recent ATP Stuttgart champion Jack Draper.
The Queen’s Club ATP is a classic tournament and a great preparation for the upcoming Wimbledon where Alcaraz is looking to defend his crown from last year. Check out some good odds for the 2024 Wimbledon.
Three in a row for Alcaraz?
British talent Jack Draper and Carlitos will face each other for the third time on the tour, with Alcaraz winning both of the previous encounters. Indoor in Basel we saw a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 win back in 2022 win and then a retirement victory at the Indian Wells last year.
The 21-year-old Spaniard is really getting back in world-class form with his feared forehand, following a few injury problems earlier this year, and will be a favorite to clinch the Queens Club title. He has 26 wins out of 31 so far this season, eight straight wins at the moment, and two titles at Indian Wells and French Open.
To reach this round he defeated Francisco Cerundolo 6-1, 7-5 in the first round.
Jack Draper is one of most interesting talents on the tour at the moment and impressed with his Stuttgart ATP final win against Matteo Berrettini. With this win he also became the highest ranked British player.
In the first round at the Cinch Championship he outed Mariano Navone easily, 6-3, 6-2 and is hoping to give the world no 2 a proper challenge on Thursday.
Predictions for Alcaraz vs Draper
This is a really interesting match between two players coming off titles recently. Draper has 6-0 on grass at the moment and is of course on home grounds.
Is he capable of beating Alcaraz? Well, not this time, is my prediction. The Brit can surely cause problems, with his serve not at least, but he played a lot of 3-set matches recently and Alcaraz is one of those players that can dominate anyone when he is in his recent form.
