Jack Draper is now officially the new British number one, following his impressive win at the BOSS Open in Stuttgart.
The 22-year-old talent climbed ahead of Cameron Norrie in the rankings and will have many eyes on him at the 2024 Wimbledon and upcoming tournaments.
Maiden ATP Tour title
Draper came from a set down to overcome another talented player in Matteo Berrettini in the BOSS Open final on Sunday. That seals his first ATP title in his third final attempt following defeats in Sofia last year and in Adelaide earlier this season.
The Brit lost the first set to Berrettini that showed some fantastic power and serving. Draper came back strong though with a second set tie-break win and a key break at 3-3 in the third set to finally register a 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory on the Stuttgart grass courts.
“It’s incredible. Just thank you so much for all the support,” was the comment from Draper after the match. “It was a really tough match, and I am really happy to win my first title. It means so much.”
“A lot of had work, a lot of tough moments the last year or so, I’m really glad with the way I played and I think it is testament to the work I’ve been doing.”

Wimbledon next
For Berrettini, who is a two-time winner in Stuttgart, it was a heavy defeat and he will now focus on Wimbledon where he lost two finals in the past.
Draper is himself looking to go injury free in the coming weeks, having missed all of the grass events last summer. This title was a great preparation and experience ahead of his home major at Wimbledon in July.
Bookmakers does not give him a great chance of a Wimbledon title this year, at odds of 101.00 | +10000 | 1000/1, however it’s surely a young player to look out for in the coming years.
Draper has also been confirmed for the tennis squad of Team GB of the upcoming 2024 Olympics in July/Aug.
