We’re getting into the semi-finals in Hamburg on Saturday and we’re looking into the clash between Sebastian Baez and Arthur Fils.
This will be the first time these two players meet in their careers and we’re looking at two players in fine form.
Arthur Fils is having a really good period as of late, where he got to the Halle ATP quarterfinals and the 4th round at Wimbledon. The Frenchman is climbing the rankings and it currently at a career high of 28 in the world.
So far the move from grass to clay hasn’t affected his form and he reached this round by beating Jaume Munar (5-7, 6-3, 6-1), Laso Djere (7-6 (3), 6-2) and finally Holger Rune 6-4,, 4-1 (retired with a knee injury). This is kind of a worry for Rune with the Olympics just one week away.
Sebastian Baez, on the other hand, is looking for his second ATP 500 trophy, following his Rio de Janeiro ATP win earlier this year. Before arriving here in the semi’s, the Argentinian took out Dominik Koepfer, Dusan Lajovic and Luciano Darderi.
We know Baez is a true clay specialist and out of his six ATP wins, five of them came on the red dirt.

As they never met before, it makes it hard to predict. Arthur Fils is in great form and can disturb most players on the tour at the moment.

Given the surface and his recent experience of winning titles, most would put their money on Baez to reach the Hamburg Open final.
