In the round of 32 of the Italian Open on Monday we’ll see 19th ranked Sebastian Baez (Argentina) take on 12th Holger Rune (Denmark).

Let’s have a look at some info and stats ahead of this game and of course our betting picks.

Holger Rune, last years finalist (where he lost 7-5, 7-5 to Medvedev) had an ok year so far with some mixed results on clay. He reached the semi-finals in Munich, the quarterfinals in Monte Carlo and most recently went out of the Madrid event in the round of 32.

The Dane reached this round by beating the Italian young talent Luca Nardi in straight sets.

Sebastian Baez has shown some top quality tennis this year and he is currently at his highest ever ATP ranking at 19th. Following the two clay titles in Rio and Santiago he dropped a bit of form though and haven’t had a successful European clay season so far.

The Argentinian had a rather tough match in the previous round where he beat Dusan Lajovic in two tie-break deciders.

H2H Baez vs Rune

Holger Rune is 2-1 up in the stats between them, but on clay courts they are all draw at one win each.

Predictions and Odds

Holger Rune is quite an unpredictable player as of late and is not always taking the right decisions during matches.

Baez likes the clay surface obviously but he’s usually not that strong on the European tournaments and has not had that much success against top ranked players. Rune should be able to cope with the rallies and dominate from the back of the court.

Very decent odds on 2-1 Set betting for Rune, at 3.75 | +275. A straight win for the Dane pays 1.50 | -200.
