A really interesting matchup today as Holger Rune and Taylor Fritz will battle for a place in the quarterfinals of the Indian Wells Masters.

The stage is of course the Indian Wells Garden in the California Desert. Home player Taylor Fritz is keeping the momentum up and has been one of the hottest players on the tour this year. The fans will enjoy this match-up and the American is an almost surprisingly big favorite against the Dane at most tennis betting sites, at around 1.60 in odds.
Fritz is currently 12-3 this season and has already an impressive title win, at the Delray Beach tournament in February. This week he hasn’t really been tested fully and this clash with Rune will show if he has what it takes to once again claim the title at Indian Wells, like he did back in 2022.
Rune yet to beat Fritz
Holger Rune got close to a title this year when he lost the final in Brisbane to Grigor Dimitrov. He’s been playing good tennis overall though and is sitting comfortably at 7th in the world rankings.
So far in this tournament he only played one match where he beat Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets, so we have still to see more of the Dane.
He never won against Taylor Fritz as they only met once (Fritz won in straight sets at the Miami Open 2023).
Predictions and Odds
We expect a tough battle and we thought the odds would be slightly more even. The top ranked American does often have problems taking his game to the next level against the top players and we don’t think Rune is a big underdog today.
Fritz will have fantastic home support today, he usually perform very good here as the Indian Wells courts suit him well. With this in mind we like these odds:
