Norwegian Casper Ruud is the current no 9 in the world and a great clay court player, but what is Casper Ruud’s racquet?
Casper Ruud’s tennis racquet
Ruud used to be a Babolat Aero Pro Drive (currently called Pure Aero) user, but has switched to the Yonex DR 100 Plusย racquet with some lead at 12 and strung with a hybrid ofย Yonex Poly Tour Proย and Yonex Poly Tour Spin 1.25. The DR edition is now discontinued, but the Yonex Ezone 100 Plus gives you a similar response. However, Casper’s racquet is heavier and will need weight added under the grommets.
Casper Ruud’s tennis racquet is 27.5 inches long (allegedly a bit longer than that according to a source that uses Casperโs old racquets – 27.75). Itโs approximately 330 grams strung with a balance of 33.5 cm. The swing weight can be guesstimated at 350.

I think Ruud posts with the DR100
I stand corrected! It is a DR 100 and he’s playing great tennis with it right now in Rio. Thanks!
Well,, Full name of the raquet is Yonex Ezone DR100. It’s a really good stick with the isometric shape. My daughther plays with it and she loves it. The head size is from 98 to 108 sq.in and from 285 to 310 gr.
Hej Ole,
Thanks for your comment. You are a hundred percent correct. It is indeed a great line of racquets that Yonex has created. Cheers / Jonas
That is an interesting hybrid string pair. I did not think of it, but when I read this it looked like an obvious synergistic combination. What tension does he use with each?
And in general, how much tension difference can one have between the mains & crosses?
I don’t know Ruud’s tension, but will try to find out! I think you should be careful not to have too much difference, I think around 1,5-2 kg is good number. Cheers /J
Update.. Casper Ruud is now playing with the new Yonex EZONE

You sure it’s not just a paint job and he’s playing with his old racquet? Cheers / Jonas
Another update, refering to the previous post. No it’was not a paint job, it was the new Ezone. Starting the 2018 season, Casper went back to the DR100 again, but now he is using the extended lenght version – Yonex DR100 Plus which gives him more power on all ground strokes including his serve. Watching Australian Open now, he plays great, ready for second round :-)
Thanks for the update Ole! Appreciate the info and extended frames are interesting to try for sure. Doing it myself at the moment. Cheers / Jonas
TW list the racquet as 4 points headlight is your source a strung weight?
4 pts head light is strung, my specs are unstrung…
